In honor of Autism Awareness Month, here’s Prince’s performance of “Starfish and Coffee” on Muppets Tonight - on the show, the song is inspired by Seymour and Pepe’s menu in the commissary, but the song was actually inspired by an autistic girl named Cynthia Rose and celebrates the unique way she sees the world.
I remember seeing this bit on television, but until I read you post, I was completely clueless about the deeper significance on the original song.
