Time has passed far over Ryujin’s bed time but her parents are not home to tuck her in, those busy bees usually never are with her father working late and her mother somewhere filming a new drama or movie. So instead of in her own bed she find herself in a different room, playing with her favourite ninja turtles. The weather outside is dark and gloomy, wind hitting where the home hurt the most and it give in to the power or Mother Earth; Ryujin is scared when it begin to shiver, she doesn’t want to be alone when the thunder rumble just outside her window. She glances up from time to time, she feel safe in the presence of her step-brother.
Jonghyun has to work on a project, she know that very well, so she’s as quiet as a five year old child can possibly be when afraid. Falling deeper and deeper into her imaginary world she has the habit of humming to herself, and so she begin whilst playing. When she hear her brother’s voice in the background it’s not as harsh as she expected it to be, but she look up from all the toys in surprise nonetheless. Her eyes big and round as though she has been caught doing a bad thing, Ryujin wasn’t even aware that she had made any disturbing noise. She wait for the hushes, scolding or notice that she has to go to bed because she was disruptive.
“Ryujinnie, would you hum that for me again.”
And she does precisely as told, without asking why. Her attention shift back to her toys as the ninja turtles give her strength to remember and the soft tone of a young child fill the otherwise quiet bed room, the only thing heard in the background being the fans of the computer. Ryujin eveutually is asked to come over and without hesitation, she throw her action figures away as she jolt up and towards the male. Secretly she has been waiting for an opportunity to come sit on his lap, all the while since she stepped into his room hours ago. Not only is she scared due to the weather but also, she is curious what Johyun is doing during such late hours.
As she sit there on his lap she is asked to hum that same melody, and not to stop until he say that she can. It’s not said as an order but rather an encouragement, Ryujin relax in what feels like an embrase and she smile softly when she lean against a strong chest. She begin to hum again, the theme run non-stop as though she’s on repeat. The little girl is tired, so very tired it doesn’t even bother her that Jonghyun keep working on his computer and his little keyboard that he keep on the side even if it means that he bump into her from time to time. Ryujin hum, and the more she hum the more difficult it is for her to stay awake… until she fall asleep.
LET’S TALK ABOUT LOVE!♡ REWIND >>> APRIL 2019, LOS ANGELES
jungeun doesn’t know why the conversation steered in thisdirection. she’d rather be talking about anything else, but her cousin and friend seemed to have something else in mind. she was set to return to seoul in two weeks; not that she really was in a rush to go home, as compared to her parents and friends wanting her to come home.
jungeun listened as her cousin and their friend teased her. i know you’re gunna’ miss urban outfitters in korea. too bad you can’t get authentic tacos as easily there! jungeun laughed as she listened to their roasting—she really will miss those things. the conversation continued into a comparison of two cities, both unique in their own ways and both dear to jungeun’s heart.
out of the blue, the conversation turned when her friend said, “jungeun, i bet you’re going back because you miss your boyfriend so much.”
wait—boyfriend?
“wait a minute,” jungeun’s eyes widened upon the implication of a relationship. she stopped picking at her burrito bowl and scooted her seat back. “what boyfriend?”
“i was just kidding, jungeun,” her friend replied, scared that she angered the blonde. “chill.”
“huh,” jungeun crossed her arms, showing more relaxed body language. “its chill, i just never had a boyfriend.”
a lie. jungeun had oneboyfriend but it wasn’t really a real relationship. they just dated out of boredom for a month or two and she wasn’t really sure if they really liked in each other in that way. ( she can’t even recall if they kissed during that time. ) so technically, she never really had a boyfriend.
anyways, she didn’t deem it important enough to mention to the girls in front of her. deep down, she was kind of embarrassed. at least, embarrassed to mention her lack of experience in front of miss bored-without-tinder and miss ready-to-get-married-with-her-boyfriend-of-six-months.
there were many nights in her vacation spent listening to the tapping of nails on a phone as her cousin swiped left or right. there were also many nights when her cousin tried to question what her type was.
“kpop idols or marvel actors don’t count, jungeun. be realistic.”
“what do you mean? i will be a kpop idol one day.”
“nevermind.”
their friend, on the other hand, was somehow in love with a guy she met six months ago at a college party. duration doesn’t automatically correlate to the strength of a relationship. jungeun knows that, yet she couldn’t help but raise a brow that at the fact that this dream guy’s only long-term goal is finding the best beer to drink with his frat bros.
“really? jungeun,” her cousin put her hand over the blonde’s, in an attempt to comfort her. ( as if being comfortably unavailablewas a sob story. ) “you’re so gorgeous, talented, and fun to be with. boys are stupid for not approaching you.”
“thank you, really,” jungeun flashed a smile. “but, the only relationship i want right now involving a man is a businessrelationship. if you know a royal, nova, or trc ceo looking for more trainees, ask him to send a contract my way.”
her cousin and friend perked up at the mention of entertainment companies. “when you get scouted, you can date one of those cute idols!”
“someone from convex maybe, they’re so dreamy.”
jungeun rolled her eyes at her cousin’s suggestion.
she had more important things to focus on.
