Well Bree Newsome couldn’t wait any longer. So, she took matters into her own hands, literally. She stood up for what she believed in (even if the plight seemed miniscule to others) and took down the flag. She ended up getting arrested, but was clearly proud of her actions, as are we. Mom Erica P. Shared her daughter Charlie’s photo with @becauseofthem and I had to share it too! She put her costume together with her grandma’s help and some pieces from her closet. How precious! Sending love to all our icons and heroes, past and present including Ms. Parks and then 15 year old Claudette Colvin who was arrested for not giving up her seat on a segregated bus months before Parks and ultimately was not acknowledged in our civil rights narrative because she happened to be a young mother.
