Unkept Promises Master List

Hazel wrung her hands as she looked down the street once more; people wandered by but none resembled the two boys she was supposed to meet up with. She made plans with Steve and Bucky to see the new Louis Hayward movie, but the two still hadn’t shown up from the docks. Thoughts of the two boys getting into a fight swam through her head; it wouldn’t be the first time. Steve usually would try to end an injustice and Bucky would have to jump in and save his skin so Sarah wouldn’t have been overbearing on either of them. She was ready to head down to the docks to look for them when she saw a familiar brunet on the street, jogging up to her.

“You’re late,” she huffed, setting her hands on her hips, her eyes peering around him. “Where’s Steve?”

Bucky gave her a sheepish look and shrugged. “I walked him home, he wasn’t feeling all that well,” he replied, his hand moving to the back of his neck and looking up at the building.

“James Barnes, did he get into another fight?” she accused, her hand slapping his arm as her eyes widened.

“Oy!” Bucky yelped, “not my fault the scrapper likes to stand up to bullies that are twice his size.”

“Maybe you should tell him to stop going down to the docks.”

“Maybe you should tie him to the bed.”

They glared at each other for a moment before they both started to laugh.

“Steve is going to be Steve, Hazel, we can’t change that,” Bucky stated, swinging his arm around her shoulders, “c’mon, let’s go watch this thing and tell Steve everything he missed.”
