Today I watched an introductory video about the Bullet Journal system created by Ryder Carroll. I used to be an avid Franklin Planner user back in the day… but as they started integrating technology into the system (via Palm OS devices and software) I tried to change to a more technology-based system. It never worked for me, but I never went back to their paper planner. Since then, I’ve tried a few things… the Muji Chronotebook, the Action Method (both online and analog) and others… I can’t seem to find a system with the right amount of structure, flexibility and flow. Templated pages don’t seem to work for me anymore… especially after I’ve switched to visual notetaking and I have learned to prefer blank pages. Most day planners don’t give me enough space for journaling or note-taking between task or event planning.

I just stumbled upon this doing some research on visual thinking (specifically the use of bullets) and I’m very VERY glad I did… I plan to try this system for 100 days, perhaps add my own tweaks, and see how this works. Just at a glance, I’m really liking this system.
