As many of you likely know by now…this Samhain(or Halloween) not only lands on a full moon, but this particular moon is a blue moon as well! So…what does that all mean?
What is a blue moon?
A blue moon means it is the second moon within the month. This October (2020) the was a full moon on the 1st and a full moon on the 31st. How is this magickally significant? Many believe that 2 full moons means 2x the power!
What is the October Full Moon - Blood Moon / Hunting Moon?
Many of you are familiar with the different esbats (full moon gatherings). In many traditions the esbats are when you complete spells and spirit work and Sabbats (holidays) are reserved for gratitude and honoring spirts/elements.
In the “old world” the October full moon is one of the 3 harvest moons. It is a time to harvest and preserve food and gather and dry herbs. Honoring your ancestors, gathering with family, having a large feast, and mingling with the spirit world are all activities to focus on during the October full moon.
Samhain is one of the most popular witches holiday in pop-culture. But for most witches and wiccan’s, it looks very different than it does in the movies.
On All Hallow’s Eve, or Samhain, the veil is thinnest between worlds. That means divination, spirit work, communicating with/honoring loved ones and remembrance are all the most powerful at this time. (Add a blue moon and you have yourself a party!)

Some other activities you can do on this very magickal night:
-Tarot Readings
-Leave apples offerings for spirits (burry apples at crossroads)
-Decorate your altar with apples (one of the most magickal fruits!). Black cloth or dark purples and blues are powerful for spells relating to divination and spiritual connection.
-Dark reds and golden oranges are also great colors to represent on your altar.
-Stones such as amethyst, obsidian, and labradorite are powerful to charge and use in your spells for grounding, cleansing, and meditation. \
Pumpkin Spice and Brown Sugar Roasted Pumpkin Seeds for Samhain
Samhain is, among other things, the witches new year. We look back on the previous year, let go of what no longer serves us, let go of the phases in our lives/versions of ourselves that have reached their death, and look forward to/plan for what is to come. That’s why I decided to make some roasted pumpkin seeds for the New Year aspect of Samhain!
Seeds carry so much potential. Potential for life, rebirth, and abundance. Seeds, to me, represent the natural cycles that we must connect with and live by. Seeds contain the life of next year’s abundant spiritual harvest. And all of this potential is well protected inside the seed shell, waiting to sprout. These were made with seasonally corresponding spices that align with my intent.
On Samhain, I’ll cast my intent on the seeds I eat, as I invision my goals for the coming year

You’ll need:
1 cup of pumpkin seeds- potential, prosperity, abundance, protection, manifestation and attraction of wishes, rebirth.
3 tablespoons of butter- fulfillment, emotional richness, happiness, nurturing energy.
2 tablespoons of brown sugar- sweetness in life, love, happiness.
The spices don’t have measurements because they’re all to-taste :) add plenty!

1. I washed the seeds after gutting the pumpkin and let them dry for a day. If you decide not to do that, make sure you wash off any pumpkin gunk and pat the seeds dry well.
2. Preheat the oven at 350°F. Cleanse your space as you choose.
3. Melt the butter, and add to it the sugar, salt, and spices. Keep in mind the magical properties of these ingredients as you add them, and how those proprieties will serve your intent for the year to come. Stir counterclockwise as you invision all that you’ll be releasing from the past year, imagine it dissipating. Take a deep breath. Then stir clockwise as you focus on attracting all that you want for the coming year.
4. Pour the spiced melted butter over your seeds in a bowl. Mix the seeds to make sure they all get coated.
5. Place the seeds on a baking sheet or a nonstick baking pan, you want enough space for the seeds to be spaced out from each other. Doesn’t have to be perfect, just make sure they’re not all clumped together.
6. If you had let the seeds dry out, they will be done in about 10-15 minutes. Stir them every 5 minutes. If you didn’t let them dry out, they’ll be done in about 25 minutes, and still stir them every 5-10 minutes or so. They’ll be done when they look caramelized and are slightly crispy.
They’re an inevitable part of our existence but we might be still learning to be aware of their presence. Wise advice popped up in your mind, sudden turn to the unknown street to bring you to the amazing place, strange butterfly, symbols hidden in bus numbers.
There is an immense dramatic element to be here, on this earth, carrying the grandness of your soul, with all that stories, karma, dimensions, previous lives, and trying to manage in the same time - soul mission, releasing karma, integrating aspects and aspects of self, merging with soulmates, helping humanity, helping Earth and yet not forgetting to take care of yourself.
We’re not supposed to go alone.
Your soul is weaved with all the beings out there - they speak to you, merge with your feelings, guide and bring all of you together, they root for you, love you. They’re your portals and main teachers, your soul family, they can be you.
Put spirit radio on, tune into the vibes you need nowadays.

Some ideas to begin with:
Lay down cards 1-9 first and interpret them.
1 - basically this is you, your current state in general or in regard to the spirit guides - your feelings, expectations, attitude.
2-9:
Major Arcana or court cards represents the spirit guides
Minor Arcana cards: all about your connection with the spirit guides (if this is what you’re interested in),
messages for you (especially if you’re asking your guides specific question)
