- The sin of pride is an excessive preoccupation with self and one’s own importance, achievements, status, or possessions.
- This sin is considered rebellion against God because it attributes to one’s self the honor and glory that only God is due.
- Pride is the opposite of humility, a character quality that greatly pleases God, and one He rewards.
- The bible often talks of God humbling the proud.
- Pride is not about self-respect, self-esteem, dignity or confidence
Pride becomes sinful when it is excessively self-focused and self-elevating. This kind of pride is what most often appears in the Bible. The biblical sin of pride refers to a high or exalted attitude—the opposite of the virtue of humility, which is the appropriate posture people ought to have with God.
Pride is a self-conscious emotion that occurs when a goal has been attained and one’s achievement has been recognized and approved by others. It differs from joy and happiness in that these emotions do not require the approval of others to be experienced. Pride also has expressive reactions that differ from joy, such as puffing up of the chest and directing attention to others or an audience. False pride can become grandiosity if the sense of accomplishment is not deserved or the reaction is excessive.

company xivhasa new show and you definitely, definitely have to go. people often describe xiv as burlesque which it isn’t, exactly, but it is crammed to bursting with dance and circus and music and rhinestones and honestly most of the things I enjoy about burlesque.
for this show, cecil and I found ourselves at the serpent vip table, which meant we also had a steady stream of surprises - some edible, some unlockable, some human. wholly recommended.
