Shadowheart and Astarion from Baldur’s Gate 3! The pose/composition is borrowed from a piece called “Anniversary Quarrel” by Lynn Buckham from 1956. Featuring “Queen of the Night” cactus orchids, and one very flustered cleric. I don’t even ship em, but I’m glad I let my brain run free
Lae’zel - 21 - Lawful Evil (I think I read somewhere that she’s only 21, and most Githyanki are LE, so it makes sense for her. Also her being so young makes her instantly more likeable because it means she’s no hardened warrior, she’s out of her depth, in over her head and desperate to proof herself)
Shadowheart - late 20s - Neutral (yes, it says “Evil Cleric” on her sheet but it does that in response to the deity you chose, and she strikes me as more pragmatic, even admits to having come to care about the tieflings, etc. I can’t see her as evil, or at least, she has the capacity to be a better person).
Gale - mid to late 30s - Neutral Good (approves of you doing good stuff, less idealistic than Wyll but has his heart in the right place. Also, from his behavior and appearance, he strikes me as someone who isn’t in his 20s anymore.)
Astarion - 400+ years - Neutral Evil (I think he was probably somewhere between 200 and 300 years old when he became a spawn. And vampire spawn are NE according to the Monster Manual, so there is that. Tho he also radiates chaotic energy, so I think he might end up as more CN in the end depending on what happens in the story and some datamined voicelines …?)
Wyll - late 20s? - Chaotic Good (approves of you doing good things, actually leaves you when you side with goblins, wants to be seen as a hero but also genuiely does care. I guess you could make the argument for NG but I see him more as CG honestly.)

I finally finished the portraits for our early access companions (and the DM)! I’ll be painting some of the side characters now, and maybe even adding to that Gothyanki AU I now love with all my heart. I’ve hope you’ve enjoyed these portraits! I’ve had fun painting them ✨
