Almost sweated to death during a portfolio review because my teachers flipped through my current sketchbook, stopped specifically on a page of Sidon/Link doodles I did, pointed at one of them, and said “this is nicely drawn.”

Good morning, I have once again drowned Link.

Every weapon that I could do this with, I did this with.

Even in the mountains of Zorana, spring has sprung! 

(You can’t imagine the amount of profanity that went into setting this picture up. Link does NOT balance when his head is tilted that way. There is so much tape.  So. Much. Tape. And Sidon needs repairs on his shoulder fronds because they have finally started chipping apart as I knew they would. But all the frustration was worth it because I fucking love this picture and I love the idea of Sidon turning around and Link handing him the flowers and shark kissies it is so fucking sweet and cute ASDFGHJKL; WORTH. IT.)

I just like them sleeping together.

Wh-wha whoa…  wow!  Thank you, Haiku Bot!  Even though it was an accident, I feel like a poet!

I’ve been learning how to bind books, and this is my first - actually my first colossal failure, but it’s also my first complete success!  It’s @riotinthequiet‘s sidlink fic, A Light Down the Well! 

The cover is faux leather.  The lettering is acrylic paint.  The paper is 24lb, and the font is…  I think Myriad Pro?  I included @riotinthequiet‘s illustrations alongside their scenes.  So much ink, but so, so worth it.

The Failure: When I first finished binding it, the endpapers warped and ripped every time I opened it, and the pages stuck out further than the cover.  I couldn’t figure out why, so I tried different things to fix it.  Adding more glue, re-cutting the signatures, generally making things worse…  Then I cut the whole thing out of the cover, and pouted a lot and wondered if I would ever make a functional book.

The Solution: Eventually I figured the problem was most likely numbers, not construction.  I re-measured a few times, and there wasn’t enough space between the spine and the… not-spine.  Luckily, I was juuuuust able to use the same fabric with a little repositioning.

And now this beautiful story sits on my shelf, and I can read it whenever and wherever I want to.

Look who fell asleep in my hand!  The prince himself!

When I made him, I used fabric for his shoulder fronds, and I knew they would eventually break apart.  They did, so I made proper ones with apoxie clay this month.  They’re a tighter squeeze for putting his arms in place, but they look so good. 

…and being me, I’ve got a half-finished sleeping face for Link as well!  (I know there are sleeping faces available, but not with elf ears.)  Soon they’ll be able to nap together.
