The Retiring Vampire came back to Montezuma after traveling Costa Rica for four weeks and wrote thousands of words for this column. Upon his return, the words fell off the page. Only spiritual science fiction remained. Considered by the bat, as the greatest scientist of all time, Nikola Tesla, envisioned the 2020 breakaway:

“The day science begins to study non-physical phenomena, it will make more progress in one decade than in all the previous centuries of its existence.“

And like in a good sci-fi movie with a gut-punch twist, we forgot about the warming temperatures. The veil between science and sci-fi dissolved. With one sigh, we agreed to accept into the arms of our families the pairing of the decade, a marriage of convenience between science and spirituality. A rare case where everybody is right, and nobody is wrong.

In honor of women’s history month we are featuring Global Women in the Start-Up World. This fascinating set of interviews looks at a cohort of female entrepreneurs who uprooted their entire lives to move to a foreign country, the United States, and start tech firms in the Silicon Valley. In their sometimes painfully honest accounts we see the challenges associated with not only adapting to a different culture but also with being a woman in a male-dominated field. If you find reads about Silicon Valley fascinating or love watching people succeed against enormous odds, then this is the book for you.
