Inktober ‘18 ~ Day 10

Following in their footsteps.

sir nighteye

[Sir Nighteye has settled pretty well into being a father and his child has some ideas on how to expand the family~ (Child is genderless so you can decide that as well~) Hope you enjoy~]

“Papa!” Mirai heard his child call from behind him, making him turn to look as they ran up to him. The Sasaki family was out shopping that day, school was starting soon and his child needed supplies and clothes. His wife was inside one of the stores and it seemed like his child had come running from where she was.

He knelt down to meet them as they ran up, catching them as they came to a stop, tugging gently on his tie. “What is it sweetheart?” he asked as they looked at him excitedly.

“Papa, I want to show you something!” They said, pointing down the crowded street. Mirai couldn’t see what they were pointing out to him but he nodded, getting up and offering his hand so they didn’t get lost.

“What is it?” He asked.

“It’s a surprise!” they insisted and Mirai smiled to himself. It was always a surprise. They weaved their way through the crowd, the child practically running in their excitement. Since he was quite tall, Mirai could see over the tops of most people’s heads, and when he saw a small pet store and that they seemed to be going for it he began to get an idea of just what the surprise was going to be.

When they made it to said pet store, his child pointed eagerly towards the front window where there were puppies on display.

“Aren’t they cute papa?” they asked, practically pressed into the glass, their little nose squished against it in excitement as they looked at the adorable puppies on display, some even coming over to them in their own ball of excitement. Mirai smiled a bit and nodded, patting the child’s head.

“They are, so many of them.” He said, looking them over. His child looked up at him pleadingly.

“Can we get one? Please?” They asked, folding their hands in a begging way, eyes big and teary in a way they knew would win him over in a heartbeat. Mirai wasn’t the easiest on his students or his interns but dammit if his child could just melt his heart.

“We’ll have to ask your mother.” He said, kneeling down beside them and they pouted.

“What if she says no?” They asked and Mirai chuckled.

“Then it’s no, but don’t worry,” He assured them. “I’m sure she’ll say yes.” He said taking their hand again. “Why don’t we go find her and ask hm?” He said, leading them away and they reluctantly followed, watching the puppies until they couldn’t anymore.

_______________

“A puppy?” You asked curiously. You were home, washing dishes with your husband when he posed the question. Mirai nodded, drying the plate you’d handed him.

“Our child has expressed interest in one,” he said. “They seem very excited at the prospect.” You hummed in thought,  washing the next plate. You hadn’t ever had a dog but you had friends and family that did. They seemed to enjoy it.

“Well, what did you say?” you asked curiously.

“I told them I would talk to you,” he said. “We make these decisions together,” he said. You couldn’t help but smile. Mirai was a very respectful man and you appreciated that about him. You finished washing the last plate and handed it over giving him a nod.

“I think it’s a good idea,” you said. “It’d be nice for them to have a furry friend to grow up with,” you said honestly. Mirai nodded, putting the last plate away, putting down the towel he was using to dry with before turning to look at you with a smile.

“Well, in that case, we have something to do tomorrow.”

“Hmm…” your child was humming, looking over the puppies in front of them with an almost critical eye. Mirai and you were standing off to the side, watching them with amused expressions.

“It’s like the bachelor over there.” You teased and Mirai chuckled, pushing his glasses up on his nose.

“They certainly are putting a lot of thought into it, they’ve been looking for half an hour.” He said watching them with a smile. He already knew what dog they would pick, he may have used his quirk earlier that morning to find out just because he was curious.

“This one~!” they said, lifting up a cute spotted dalmatian puppy that licked them happily, making them giggle. “Spot, I’m gonna call you Spot~!” They said, coming over to show you. You smiled and knelt down to pet the puppy gently.

“He’s cute, that’s a nice name for him,” You said. “Shall we go pick out a collar and some toys?” you said and your child nodded eagerly. The three of you went up to the adoption counter and filled out paperwork, making it official as your child signed their name on the paper. They beamed when the adoption center lady handed the paper to them and congratulated them on being a new parent.

“Remember, this is a responsibility as much as it is a privilege,” Mirai said as your child leashed up the puppy to take around the store. They nodded and assured you they were going to take good care of the puppy, looking over the bags of food with the same critical eye they did when choosing the puppy.

You smiled and ruffled their hair gently, helping them pick out the best food for the puppy and then getting to the fun part; the toys. After picking out a few and a leash the three of you, now four headed back home. The rest of the day was spent getting the new puppy set up, making him a place to sleep in your child’s room, and setting up the bowls for his food and water.

Once the excitement of the day had settled down, you and Mirai settled in for bed, you brushing out your hair as he sat on the edge of the bed, looking like he was lost in thought. You looked at him in the mirror curiously. “Is something on your mind?” You asked.

Mirai sat up a bit, drumming his fingers against his knee. “Just thinking about our child,” he said honestly. “They’re growing up so fast.” He said, sighing a bit. “I know they’re only five but I feel like it’s going to be so quick that they are all grown up,” he said looking a bit mopey about it. You smiled and got up from your vanity, going over to him and sitting in his lap, him immediately holding you close, a hand on the small of your back.

“I think your right, they are growing up fast,” You agreed, brushing his hair back gently. “But, I also think it’s fun to see them grow so much, they are adorable,” you said and he chuckled.

“They are…I just hope they always want to be around us, what if they get older and decide they don’t like us…” He worried and you chuckled, kissing his forehead.

“I don’t think that will happen, we’re super parents.” You teased and he smiled a bit, leaning in to rest against your chest.

“You can always cheer me up, you know that?” He said, looking grateful for your company. You grinned and peppered his head with kisses.

“That’s why you married me right?” You asked and he dragged his fingers gently up your back.

“Well, that and a few other reasons…” He said and you smiled, resting your head atop his. You liked the quieter moments like these when he didn’t have work on his mind or had to be away. Right now all he was thinking about was his family and it was sweet.

“You know…” He said, looking up at you with a sly smile. “I think our child could use a sibling.” he said and you blushed, swatting him teasingly.

“Is that what you want?” You teased and he nodded moving to pull you onto the bed with him.

“Yes.”

Mirio, your eyes are somehow difficult to draw. It took me several tries to make him look at Overhaul directly cause Mirio’s eyes are almost “locked” to only look straight in front of him.

Anyway, I’m very excited for Season 4! Can’t wait for October.

original incorrect quoteby@faketextsfromlastmight

I’m always amazed when people draw art of my silly little incorrect MHA quotes.

Thanks to @clutterspunk, be sure to check their blog! Sir Nighteye looks so unhinged there, I love it.
