“Christopher—” Buck grit his teeth, trying to collect himself enough to speak. “Chris, I need you to give me the biggest hug y-you’ve ever given me, okay? Just—just loop your arms around—around my waist—” Buck cried out again as another large piece of debris slammed against the barrier, and suddenly it was taking every bit of strength he possessed to remain standing as he held the barrier intact. “Hold on as—as tight as you can, okay?”

flinch:

The man smirked, but luckily made no move to inspect the scarring himself. Instead, he stepped closer to Buck and ran a finger through the bloodied abrasion on his bicep. Buck fought back a wince at the sting and tried not to flinch when he drew a bloody line on Buck’s cheek.

love:

“Yeah,” Judd nodded, gaze fixed on the glass he was drying. “That kid…he’s been hurt deep by people he considers family, and I want him to…I wanna give that family feeling back to him. The team has been great with him, he’s integrated really well, but—”

“People have lives outside of the firehouse, and you want him to have one, too,” Grace said. Judd’s heart thrummed with a deep, warm love; his wife was on exactly the same wavelength as him, and Judd knew Grace was already on board with his intent to help Buck.

cry:

Buck stood stunned for just a moment, but he quickly unfroze and knelt down to properly return the hug. Christopher promptly readjusted his grip around Buck’s neck and buried his face into Buck’s shoulder. “I missed you,” he mumbled, words muffled by Buck’s shirt, and Buck held on tighter, willing himself not to cry into Christopher’s hair.
