I just wanna say that if you ship Sonic and Knuckles because of the movie, that’s totally ok. The people saying that’s problematic are just forcing their view of them as brothers on the rest of the fandom.
To me, the movie was clearly implying that Knuckles and Tails were just Sonic’s friends. Tom and Maddie even call them his friends. Also, the scene where Tom comments that he wants Sonic to have a friend group like Randall’s heavily implies that imo. There was nothing really that clearly suggested that Maddie and Tom saw Knuckles and Tails as their kids, too.
If Sonic 3 confirms this interpretation, then yes, I agree you shouldn’t ship them, but until then, we can’t be sure. So don’t let people make you feel bad about your ship just because they interpret it a different way.
