Honestly one of these days I will come up with a way to incorporate a Su-won-like chara into my story and that’s when I’ll get over “Akatsuki no Yona” once and for all eternity.
It worked with every other story that disappointed me so far, and the only problem with AnY is that rather than not delivering on the premise, making my “rewrite” quite easy, I’m salty about the descent that began after the Water Tribe Arc. I still love those chapters up to ~90. So it’s much harder to come up with my own version, since rather than just writing what I expected and didn’t get, making it an original story, I feel like I should write the first 90 chapters as they are in AnY and then change stuff.
Which won’t work for original fiction, for obvious reasons. So either I come up with another way or I’m stuck on this character and the lost potential forever =.=
(I will come up with a way. One day.)
The thing is with Su-Won telling Yona that she’s inherited Il’s ideologies just as he’d expected, is probably one of the reasons why he does not think she is a viable successor to the throne. His bias against Il is stopping him from considering her. Yona is Il’s successor in Su-Won’s eyes. Su-Won does look down on Il, of course, as an incompetent fool on top of that, and he doesn’t expect much from Yona as his daughter. He’s mostly likely going to be humbled, this battle, though.
For real, is it what happens in chapter 220? Il’s ideology aside, Yona is too uneducated to be the ruler.
And I see Soo-won still must be losing his IQ points for Yona to be proven right. From what I understand from the spoilers, this whole situation sounds stupid and is created in a way to make Yona look good.
First of all, the whole thing might have been planned by this evil general and it might be a trap, so charging forward to help people might be playing into his plan and falling into it, resulting in greater damage and more casualties.
That inexperienced Yona is not expecting anything makes sense, the fact that Guen-Tae doesn’t think this might be a trap, doesn’t make much sense. Unless the point of it was to show Yona’s moral superiority over Soo-won, because she wants to save people and her friends.
It is a nice, noble move, but problems are worth considering when your opponent has overwhelming forces and can be trying to goad you into action.
However, I do not think an antagonist in this story will be allowed to outsmart Yona and make her look like a fool. I guess it is good for Yona that she lives in a nice shoujo world where her opponents need to have reduced IQ points and cannot be cunning.
Thanks for spoilers, now I know I can still keep this story as dropped.
Oh. So the story’s descent into the gutter was complete some 60+ chapters ago and now it’s rolling in the filth, I see…
