To everyone who’d seen it, to everyone who’d talked about it, thank you very much.
It made me very happy to see so many wonderful comments about it.
With Tani-kun it seemed like the director wanted an easy, relaxed performance, so I did it naturally; his speech patterns may have been weird, but not too anime-like.
A normal high school student you can see anywhere, who’s in a band as a hobby. That was the most important thing I had in mind when I was portraying Tani-kun.
This normal Tani-kun, at the moment when he finds out his friend is a little bit different from “normal people”, what would he have done?
I think Tani-kun would take his time and carefully think it over. Or maybe, he wouldn’t think it over all that much, just lose himself in hanging out like highschoolers do, then go to band practice, then think about stuff seriously sometimes, I wonder if his mind went like that.
I’d thought a lot about how he felt like there was no need to distance himself from his friend who might have been a bit different from “normal”, and instead treated him normally.
It’s just like what he told Kusakabe in the movie.
Isn’t Tani-kun a good guy. Well, he thinks that Kusakabe is a good guy, so that’s why he said that to him.
Youth is the peak of life. It’s like heartthrobbing 100% lemon juice, but those words aren’t just for Kusakabe and Sajou, they’re also for Tani-kun.
Well, Tani-kun aside, the movie also had their band friends and school friends, Hatamata-sensei, the neesan running reception during the livehouse.
It’s an interesting project because the more you look at it, the more you’ll notice different things. Of course you’ll end up rooting for Kusakabe and Sajou as they gradually fall in love with each other, but it would also be fun to see the other things aside from that.
To those who haven’t seen it, watch it. To those who have seen it before, watch it again for a different viewpoint.
