They picked her up north of Redwood Meadows, she with the heavy backpack, sleeping bag, and big cardboard sign bearing black Magic Marker. She had mostly hiked from Calgary. They were only going as far as Kamloops, but… there was something about her.
“I’m trying to get to Vancouver,” she said, climbing into the back seat. Her dark, small nipples were hard under the sweaty tanktop she wore. “I can offer gas money.”
They got along, they laughed, they boogied to awesome tunes as the car sped along 1. She shared a joint with the dude in the passenger’s seat. His name was Rick. He had big, manly hands. The boys were fit, young, handsome, relaxed, great teeth.
By the time they reached Chase, she bit her lower lip, took a breath, made a decision that caused a flutter in her tummy, and found herself offering more than gas money.
Peter looked over his shoulder as he drove. What a smile. “Uh, yeah. We can go further… No worries.”
