Hamlet Rehearsal, July 2015. Basically, Benedict Cumberbatch looking like an angel with his eyes to the heavens :-). I was this close to draw a golden frame around the pictures with cherubs and trumpets in a frise. 

I used my own editofthis pictures from Johan Persson. 

Staedtler Pencils (2H to 3B) with Derwent Tinted Charcoal pencils in White and Lavender for the shirt, on Strathmore Toned Tan 9″ x 12″ paper.

I used this picture by Kim Yokota as reference. Staedtler pencils (8B to 2H) and Derwent white charcoal on Strathmore Toned Grey paper (9″x12″).

I love how the white on grey makes everything pop off the page!

I also used a 0 size Taper Point Firm Colour Shaper instead of a paper stump for smaller areas shading and blending. It’s incredibly precise and flexible, glad I found it :-)

Sherlock, framed in Art Deco.

I just love how Ian Derry photographed them and in my opinion, there is no other Sherlock photoshoot out there that is quite comparable to this one. It’s my second drawing using his work as reference, and it might not be the last one either. I used my usual Staedtler pencils, white conté charcoal and Sakura Micron 1 and brush pen. 

I wish I had been able to have better photographs, but I’ll probably have this one scanned soon anyway…

Benedict Cumberbatch, Variety’s Actor on Actor Photoshoot. Black Conté Pastel on Canson Mi-Teintes Pastel ( I used the white one, obv.)

As a reference, I used this edit by twoharts. It’s different from what I normally do. A bit of overexposition, with a medium and support that shows a lot of texture and there you are: out of your comfort zone! I loved every minute of it, though. I just wish it was easier to photograph or scan, as it looks so good in “person”, but somewhat fake in pictures. Oh well!
