Ivy leaves home after a massive argument with Mac and James in favor of a dingy motel. Though she knows people have been watching them, in a moment of desperation,Ivy invites a stranger up to her room. This is an AU of what would have happened if he took her up on her offer.

The loneliness had festered into something unbearable and now, Ivy could feel it clawing at her insides. It was manifesting as a weighty pit in her gut, and it didn’t seem to matter how much she drank or smoked, willing it to float or lessen or fill with something new, it managed to sink deeper, grow heavier each day and left her profoundly empty.

She still wasn’t sure why she was here. Or maybe she was. Maybe it was a fitting place for a girl like her. Someone grimy and alone and pitiable and dirty and marked and unwanted. Someone anonymous with nowhere else to go. Maybe it was where she belonged.

And it suited her fine. The motel was a maze of sparse faces, cycling in and out on short stays while Ivy stayed planted in her spot against the railing, sullen and invisible and brushed-past as she scanned and hunted for someone to return her gaze. But they never did.
