Sugar Sugar Rune: The manga and anime

Soooo I was rewatching one of my favourite animes two days ago and I was so HYPED and HAPPY AHHHHH Anyhow! When I started researching some of the things that did not make any sense to me, I read somewhere that the ending in the manga is a totally different one! Me being a curious little shit I started reading the manga too and tbh I actually do prefer the manga now because EVERYTHING MAKES SENSE NOW!!! and we all love a little more drama amiright

Generally speaking the anime and manga is about Chocolate, a young witch, who is send to the human world with her best friend, Vanilla, as queen candidates to compete against each other. They are given the task to collect as many human boy hearts as they can ( and they look like cute gemstones as you can see in the GIF above ♡^♡).

I don’t wanna talk about the rest cause I would be spoiling everything but let’s say that this is a very cute story which turns very angsty and dramatic at the end ( but the story is still lovely you all :“”“))

I personally prefer the manga, though, because the story generally has a better flow and tbh that ending was everything :”) I was disappointed by the anime’s ending and I dunno I was kinda left hanging for more and I felt as if the story was still incomplete (sad) but I still gotta admit that the animation is beautifully done and I love the colours and just about everything there is

It is disappointing to see that this story has not received the recognition it actually deserved and I think that this could have maybe become a sailor moon 2.0 ( my opinion on that matter) but oh well I can only say WATCH IT IF YOU ARE INTO MAGICAL, ROMANTIC AND DRAMATIC STUFF ( It did not disappoint me at all, you guys)

kiraraboshi:

it kills me how many magical girl shows with interesting premises were ruined in my eyes bc the authors decided to focus more on the bland romances rather than the plot.

Agreed. I think thats not jut with magical girl shows, its just one of the general problems of shoujo mangas. I used to love shoujo as child but i wouldnt understand that much but when i grow up, i come to hate it more but also those days, i am thinking that actually some shoujos has really interesting plot and characters that could’had amazing potential. But all those toxic traditional belifes (mostly gender role based by society), messed-up relationships (whether its really toxic or child x teen/ teen x adult type of relationships), focusing romance instead of plot, good-bad victim mentality and especially the ‘special girl’ trope (using one girl/basically main characters to make her look somehow she is better than other girls, instead of showing ‘every girl is special in their own way) etc etc and many problems like this, all those things really ruin the series.

I try to ignore those parts by enjoying the series but imagine the potential, if those things didnt happen but instead, we get more focus on plot, imagine those toxic and messed up things doesnt exist or adressed by narrative, imagine characters and plot is more detailed and well written, i mean imagine the potential. That many shoujos with good plot and characters rewritten in modern perspective and knowledge without romanticizing toxicity and messed up things. Even thinking about it makes me excited.

I still enjoyed sugar sugar rune and honestly, my main focus was Vanilla and her relationship with MC (i love to see female friendships) and the plot of people’s hearts, it was just interesting and fun and it could be better :’)))) but wel, whatever, i fixed it all in my own way.
