Happy 30th Anniversary to the Super Nintendo!
I’m curious about all my gaming followers: first Pokémon game, first Zelda game, and first Mario game in the tags?
This is a 3D recreation of the bonus room background from the Super Mario All-Stars version of Super Mario Bros. 3! I’ve wanted to make this since even before I made the Battle Mode backgrounds. I had a “modern” version planned, where the tiles are made of glass and lights, but it doesn’t look any good.

These are the four Battle Mode backgrounds from the Super Mario All-Stars version of Super Mario Bros. 3, recreated in 3D! The blue one was a fun little challenge to figure out, as I wasn’t even sure it could be tiled perfectly. Every time I look at these, I can’t help but imagine the fanfare that plays when the battle begins. Which one is your favorite?
