So I don’t know if this is a dumb question. But I read an interview with Tim Minear where he said one of the reasons Carlos is not in every epsidoe is because he doesnt have the rights to characther every episode.

I don’t get this. You created the character of Carlos Reyes so how can you not have the rights to him. Surely?

Maybe Rafa isnt contracted to every episode and thats why he is absent. But why would you do that both Rafa and Sierra McClain are billed as starring rolls (and have since the beggining, in interviews both are always written as starring in) a long with the rest of the fire crew but they both miss epsidoes fairly reguarly. I don’t get it, these are 2 loved characthers in the show. Everyone wants more for a reason. Sure maybe in season 1 when you where still fleshing out your characters you don’t have them in every episode but surely you contract them for every episode from season 2 onwards in the same way all the other fire crew seem to be in every episode even if they just have a line. Know your audience.

Storyline wise it makes no sense that they just disappear for weeks on time.

Now 911s are both hugely successful shows so I cant see them not being able to afford them.

I guess I just don’t understand why you are billing them as main characters and not having them around all the time. It sets expectations that they will be and I don’t understand how Carlos can not be avaliable for every episode and Grace if that is the case too.

If someone legit knows the answer as to why this is I would like to know

This was a great episode of Lonestar.

Always happy to watch a Paul storyline, I have just never loved a job enough to put my life on the line for it so I can’t understand how someone would rather die than not do that job. I don’t think outside of people, I love anything enough to die for it. So Pauls decision seems crazy and kind of selfish to me. That doesn’t mean he deserved to wake up the way he did though. I kind of like how after he asked Marjan to leave he still said thanks. Kind of like he knew he was being unfair to her in the moment. I dont think as someone who has no power of attorney or anything over Paul, Marjan would not have had any say in him getting the pacemaker?

- Owen’s dry ass chicken sounds honeslty revoulting. 100% would not want to eat

- I love this bird. He is obviously a great judge of characther. He loves Mateo but dislikes Owen. Also him saying ‘bitch and moan, bitch and moan’ was the best most on point thing ever

- Part of me hopes Gwyn did leave him the bird to torment him, yhe idea of her being like this is how I will one up him forever just makes me giggle. Also I enjoy her lawyer. She’s a boss.

- I love how much Judd is enjoying himself this episode. Raising his hand like a kid only to make fun of Owen. The joy on his face when he found out that Owen started the fight with the bird and when he heard the bird kissed Mateo. His just there living his best life.

- Said it before, will say it again. Gina Torres is so beauitful. She has an infectious smile and hair of my dreams

- Mateo is right, Axe throwing is fun as hell. Reccomend it. Also the fact that Owen doesnt ALREADY own a vegetable sprializer is more surprising than the fact he ordered one

- I would like it to be known that you should never strap your baby into a car the way that woman did. I actually dont think you even could if you wanted to that is obviously just sitting in the prop car

- I love Paul but the way he makes pasta is a freaking crime. What did that poor spaghetti do to you?

- The fact that Marjan could kick that door in is pretty hot

- They did not just kill the bird. Why was that neccesary!?!?! Noo Ginsberg! (Also kudos Gwyn, great name) He could have just gone to Mateo and they would live happily together for 30 years

- Finally. Where was Nancy? I can get why Carlos and Grace where not in the ep. It makes no sense that Nancy was not there with no explanation. I get that Tommy and T.K. where having a moment this ep but it just makes no sense that they where running a man down.

I can also understand that not every actor needs to be in every episode. But it always the same ones. I would love to see a episode that spends the whole time with Grace and Carlos and thier jobs/lives The only time the rest pop up is when they have screentime shared with those two. It could be a cop storyline that involves 911 phone calls and some personal stuff in the side. I think when people talk about how upset they are that Carlos or Grace is not in a episode it’s because it happens reguarly with them and almost never with the others. I mean its OK to leave them out to focus on firefighter storylines but it jas to go both ways. Which is si t right now.

I could talk so much about the episode tonight. Ronen really delivered on his performance of TK especially in flasbacks. Gwyn is an amazing mother, she pushed her baby out yhe eay and loterally went into a drug house for her other son. I was a little disappointed to not meet Enzo Owen was at the best his been for a while (even if I want to know how 2017 him was so involved in other things he missed his son was reguarly getting high). It was really a beauitful episide.

With that said I am ready for a break from the Strands being front and centre. (Somehow I doubt that will happen eith Owen) Yes, even TK as much as I love him. We know so much about them and have seen so much of them. Now give me more Mateo (for example why was Mateo sleeping in the fire station last season instead of going to his parents because he mentioned his mum in this episode. We really know so little about him) Marjan, Nancy, Paul and Carlos.

Mateo and Nancy I could defintley get behind.

Also Carlos always manages to get me. First watching the plane land seeing the fire crew all together and Owen and TK togther and Carlos standing alone surrounded by strangers. Then hom saying ‘I put you on that plane’. I get the feeling that he needs someone to be there for him. I just eantef to give him a big hug

Also TK just confirmed to me I am not crazy. I have a clear memory from when I was about one and everyone tells me that its not possible but no one can explain how I know this fact and can recite i detail my mother can’t, so seeing TK say I remember things made me go SEE SEE!

Waiting to see how 9-1-1 Lonestar will explain why Carlos is not on that plane with them. No way is the guy who waited on the stairs for TK to come home after a team member died is letting TK to go to his mothers funeral without him being there for support. So there so there better be a good explanation.

Poor TK

Stray thought but do you think Carlos has a reputation at the precent?

Like a probie asks about him and gets told:

‘Reyes? Great guy, super friendly, super smart, would help you in a heartbeat no questions asked, half the public who meet him have a crush on him and great at his job. But the man just has the worst taste in friends.  We actually take bets on how long it will be before he has to arrest one of his friends/his boyfriend/boyfriends father. The prize is currently 100 bucks at the moment. I’m down for two weeks from today’

I mean what he arrested Michelle constantly, TK has been, even if it wasnt by him. Then Owen and who knows how many times Marjan went all badass over the firehouse.

I like to imagine this.

9-1-1 Lonestar Thoughts

- I actually loved the opening scene. I think Owen is at his best when his with another memeber of 126. Like Marjan in ep 2 and Mateo here. Mateo is the best and we need to see more of him. Also just quickly. What kind of person drinks juice from the container at another persons house. Just no. Mateo needs to chuck that ASAP.

- One Night Strand is a great nickname.

- That poor kid is so nervous and we all know where that was going. Also Judd saying I dont keep secrets from wife. They are just couple goals

- That nanny cam voice is way to creepy

- I actually love the way this episode is tracking

- Any time Carlos is in full uniform is a treat

- OK I just love Grace Ryder. It takes real emotional maturity to be able to say I know it’s not fair to anyone but I am upset and thats OK. They are both just so open with thier emotions and I am in awe of that as a person who is emotionally stunted.

- I love that they have to go to Marjan for help and bribe her. That scence is great. But the idea of a dating app just for the eliite. I know it probably exists but it is so pretentious it’s kinda gross. Sorry the genral population isn’t good enough. Owen you dont need that you just need to be looking for people instead of hook ups. Start by learning a girls name.

- Carlos legit went through her desk. He is a bit of a control freak but a great cop. Eager to watch him and the detective solve this case.

- That Tarlos scene was perfection. Props to TK for being able to fall asleep watching that and hearing that voice. It is literally unsettling. And Carlos letting TK sleep on him is adorable, he was there for jiurs his arm must have been dead and he still didnt move. TK getting woken up and his sleepy face. Poor guy was so confused. Also the lighting in this scene was beauitful.

- I love Amy Acker and I feel like she could be great in the future but I am not feeling this scene. Ahh! Of course it turns out Owen had to save the day. Why do they need him to always come in last minute, break mutiple laws and save the day. We get it, his a hero but you literally spent the whole episode with Carlos at the centre of this and now here Owen comes? His lucky he didn’t cause a serious accident. I don’t dislike Owen, I dislike the way his being written at the moment. Season 1 Owen was great. As I said Owen is at his best interacting with the fire crew and being part of the 126. Further proved by the fact that the best part of that whole thing was Carlos reaction and explanation of who he was. Baiscally your father law? Boy you smitten.

- It is just a proven fact that Carlos is great with kids and loves them. Adorable.

- He would make the a great detective but man it would be a shame not to see him in that uniform.

- Judd and Grace still being couple goals and people goals

- It was great to see Carlos completly outside of TK this episode. Live his characther growth we have needed some for so long. I think Lonestar is producing some good content this season.

I feel like that episode of 9-1-1 was 90% perfection. I honestly was 100% invested in both storylines and at no point was I wanting to see more of one than the other. I may be alone in this but I actually enjoy Billy a lot. I love that Grace could go through labor and still constantly put Billy in his place. She is a queen and Charlie has the 2 best parents a girl could ask for.

Ah Tarlos. Carlos I love you, you are probably the best partner a person can have but as an amazing as a gesture as it is, you can’t go buying houses and putting  people names in it, and TK baby, you cant just run away when things get hard. Yeah Carlos went a little to big but you broke the poor guys heart instead of having the difficult converations. I honeslty believe that for Carlos money doesn’t matter as long as they are togther so the break up would have broken him seeing he was thinking they where gonna spend the rest of thier lives together. He has every right to be mad.

My biggest problem with the episode blends into the problem with the show in general and that is to much happens off screen. Almost all of Grace’s pregnancy, how the 126 split after Owen left. I want to see how they left one by one till it was just my girl Marjan fighting the good fight.

Watching Rafa kill these scenes was a treat (He is just so talented) but I feel kind of ripped off in this Tarlos storyline. We had them break up off screen, months of them apart off screen. I would have liked to see them both dealing with not being together as much as it would hurt to watch. Then we see how hurt Carlos is with the break up and the anger he holds. Then TK wakes up and we time skip again to seeing them back together and happy. I would kill to see that path back to being a couple because I think there is a story of TK getting Carlos’s trust and forgiveness and for Carlos to underatand where he went wrong. (Also kind of want to see Andrea give TK a piece of her mind, tough love) I kind of felt like this whole storyline outside of this single episode really showed no growth for TK or Carlos. The reason for the break up deserved more time to be explored.

Then we jump to the 126 being completly rebuilt and back together. Tim said he likes to show the road back to being togther but as far as I can tell 90% of that road was all of screen and in time jumps, we missed a lot of opportunity to see these characthers journeys. I may be alone in this but I dont undersatnd why they feel they have to run in current time just because you go on hiatus doesnt mean you need to time jump with the time that has passed. It feels like we have never spent any real time with these charcathers without weeks passing between episodes.

I know it seems like I only have negatives to say but I do love this show and this was a great, amazing episode just the last few minutes disappointed me.

9-1-1 LS s02e12 thoughts

- First off I feel like 9-1-1 excels at it’s comedy and fun episodes like tonight. (And the beigns episodes) Where as the best LS episodes IMO are best when the really dig deep into thier charchter and the relationships and tell a suspense filled story.

- Still annoyed that Owen literally thought going to a old fire site was more important than the dinner. I get he forgot but when TK rang and reminded him he still decided to prioritise that over the dinner. Great parenting.

-I am two hours late cause I couldn’t find limes. My phone went dead hence why I couldnt tell yoh I was running late. OWEN you could see all the missed calls when Billy handed it over so obs that was a lie that TK could have seen straight through as the phone was still ringing. Idiot.

- Poor Judd literally put between two of hos friends

- I feel like Buttercup would be loving having Mateo live with him somehow I doubt Owen has food that is that intersting to him and TK prob doesnt feed him human food out of love. Mateo providing the goods and is a pushover.

- The fire station sceme was a hard one because I felt for TK so bad at the beggining but it kind of frustrating to see the blind faith he has in his father despite the fact he was the first one to talk about him smelling like smoke yesterday yet he was annoyed that Carlos felt the same about his father, Carlos trusts his dad to not do something like this without real evidence the same way TK knows Owen didn’t do this. I love TK so much but he can get tunnel vision some times

- Then TK shoved Carlos mutiple times. Tk feels things so intensely and I think Carlos calm demanour in that situation probably didn’t help as it could feel cold but you do not shove your partner. I also felt so bad for Carlos in that moment because I guarantee you if Carlos had shoved TK, Judd would have him against a wall in a second flat. We havent seen Carlos outside of TK but I hope he has his own set of friends because as much as the fire fam love him they always seem to be TKs support system and Carlos look so hurt when he walked away. He was put in a tough spot there.

-  Mateo’s blind faith in Owen is adorable and I also did not know that was a pasta cutter.

- I am really glad it is not Billy, well done Lonestar on not taking the easy route. I also enjoy how smart the arsonist is.

- I love that my boy is with his kid ❤ Hell yes Gabriel

- Dude he set himself on fire!

- Owen he said he was going to take the most important thing in the world from you and you thought of the firehouse (and I am hoping your house) yet it didnt occur to you that TK was on that list. You really are a self obssesed guy. Gabriel needs to take one here too. Ya a Texas Ranger and the idea that he could get to both of you in one move didnt occur? I am hoping Gabriel at least had his house checked.

- I don’t have time to explain. And then Owen explained.

-  Carlos, TK does have to apologise. I get it was a bad situation for both of you and TK qas hurt but TK overstepped and acknowledging that is imporant. Tk needs to examine why violence is an oulet for him in a non healthy way

- Billy has really grown on me

-  I love the fire scene. It was hot and intense with doubling it with the fire going. But could they have picked another song. It was so corny it kinda took me out of the moment. But Rafa and Ronen where so good I got over it.

- TK left his phone downstairs but when he gets off the bed he has a phone in his pocket. Gonna assume that is Ronen’s phone. (Rafa may not take his on set but Ronen ovs does)  Also the fact that they are wearing shoes in bed is hilarious

-  Carlos and TK more or less saying goodbye and that the love each other broke me. These guys have my heart.

- Poor Carlos. The way he tried to say he was good before breaking down and thinking it was his fault for not having an extingusher upstaors. I loved seeing him let his guard down and let TK be there for him, I think that was important for him and TK stepped up.

- No Charles! I really hope his OK
