…I can’t believe I never thought about the ‘tea’ of ‘tea lights’. Like I just thought you lit them for ambiance with your tea.
You guys are beautiful dummies, yes this is what tea lights are for and also:
Regular little small tealights tend to keep your tea ‘tolerably not cold’ rather than hot, and you definitely need to heat your water properly first. However! You can also find jumbo tea lights, which are bigger and produce more heat and will actually heat your little borosilicate glass pot of tea from cold to not-quite-boiling and then keep it there!
I have accordingly got a little setup, replete with pot, burner, candles, caddy, gaiwan, spare cup, and drainage tray, whereby I only need to get up to empty leaves out of my gaiwan or refill the water in my pot. I highly recommend this for the chronically tired/ ill/ pained (or busy or lazy) tea drinker who may have reasons for not wanting to get up to make a new cuppa too often.
Though as above says: no candles if you’re not able to safely attend to them. Get an electric mug warmer if you don’t want multiple cups and/or be unable to attend to your open flames.
