Every now and again, a film comes out which simply beggars belief by how bad it is. Texas Chainsaw 3D fits this category hands down.
The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre film can be defined as a horror film but this latest instalment borders more often than not on the comedy genre. It is no surprise that the acting is simply shocking and the character development is non-existent.
Texas Chainsaw 3D is in fact so terrible that I don’t feel bad about dispensing spoilers. Alexandria Daddario plays the main protagonist Heather Miller who sees her best friends slaughtered by the all-conquering Leatherface Sawyer. Later upon discovering that she is actually a relative of the Sawyer family, Heather quickly sides with her Neanderthal cousin, even encouraging him with the cringe-worthy cry, “Do your thing, cuss”.
The 3D effects do little to justify its release. This is a film which quite simply did not need made. Avoid at all costs.
