Chris Walla, Mantra #2

“Mantra #2” is a site specific installation created to respond to the atrium space above the main gallery. “Keep It” floats above the grounded “Together”. The top was meant to appear ephemeral and respond to the light and time of day. In the late afternoon the crystals become bathed in sunlight and throw rainbows throughout the space and the crystals will move to air currents in the room. The form of “Together” draws from the Hollywood sign and funerary wreath stands. One half of the work is propped up while the other falls. I sought so evoke the optimism, desperation, and determination of the saying.”
