weaving something quick, when the sun hits

details of ‘hollywood fwy’ and a picture of it just slumped chilling in my chair

I can’t drive but I like to watch / I’m looking at the headlights blur from a bar window above / let’s see where the night takes you

hollywood fwy, 2022, handwoven in los angeles by alexandra jean auger. 15” x 17.5”, acrylic and wool yarns on cotton warp, 77 weaving hours.

Desperately need to make space so first up: selling this ‘rare’ smaller study from late last year. A braid neatly tied then chopped into the sink, maybe for your own bathroom?

My website/store is here and if you’re reading this, ily, use code BRAIDTUMBLR for a petite discount.

Crushing, 2022, 15” x 18”

handwoven by Alexandra Jean Auger

crushing - finally, you are hanging out with that person (is this a date?) and they are notoriously against having their photo taken but relent so long as they don’t have to look at it, so you snap and scrawl and slip the polaroid directly into your pocket, beaming. on the bus home later half dizzy you pull it out and it’s all fucked up, light leaks and a big damaged blotch and this isn’t what you planned to remember. crushing.

It is my true pure joy to announce I will be showing weavings for the first time (finally!) in Los Angeles in this beautiful group show at a space I am so, so excited about. The first time I visited Heavy Manners Library felt like a return to excitement and endless possibilities of teenhood. I can’t wait to see all they do here, or to see the other works in this show.

Becoming opens Thursday February 24th at 7pm!

Win this weaving!

To offset green card renewal costs ans make space in my tiny studio, I am raffling off Dream Journal I. I’m also curious to test this as a way of offering expensive pieces more accessibly. Entries are $5 apiece and unlimited. Winner will be drawn February 3rd at 10 am PST.
