second successful feeding with thrice! last week didn’t go so well but i didn’t know he was in shed (and now i can keep track of that). it’s a chore to find him and he’s more than willing to strike at it but it’s all out of fear and not feeding. i’m not a fan of searching for him and scaring him to get him to take it but i don’t think he would without it.

but he didn’t throw it up the first time so i’m hopeful for the second round and maybe when he gets older and a little bigger he’ll be a little more confident. he’s definitely comfy in his home though since this when i found him he was curled up on top of his hide and under the vines instead of buried somewhere!

In light of the announcement of the new Netflix adaptation of Redwall…

● What’s something that could make or break the adaptation for you?

● What’s a scene you’re looking forward to seeing animated?

● Which of the other Redwall books do you hope get animated?

I’ll start

● the faithfulness to the original feel of Redwall will definitely make or break the series for me

● The fight scene in Mossflower between Skipper and the vermin captain on the banks of the river in the early morning mist

● Loamhedge

Oh great questions.

There’s a lot I could consider as having the potential to ruin the adaptation for me, but my main requirements are good voice actors. Especially if they’re going to include the songs and riddles.

I am dying to see the Kotir escape scene with Gonff and Martin jumping out the window.

Either Mariel or Taggarung would be amazing to see. But mainly Mariel… the scorpion pit fight… come on!

Another thought I had is if the Martin series will happen in chronological order. That may seem obvious at first but the personality change in Martin, if done right, might be better handled if they actually start with Mossflower and show the events of Martin the Warrior in flashbacks.

SONGS! SONGS! SONGS!

I mean, there’s a lot that could make or break the adaptation for me but their treatment of the songs is symptomatic of a lot of it, I think. I’m not asking for a full-fledged musical or anything, or even as many songs as appear in the books, but it’s a huge part of the feel of the series IMO, as well as an enormous part of the in-universe cultures. Also more media should include songs and poems in general, so…

The scene where Boar gives Martin his sword… guys… I first read that when I was seven years old and it still, to this day, sends chills down my spine when I reread it. It’s easily my favorite scene in the whole series, it’s beautiful, it’s glorious, it’s perfect, and I want to see it.

Pearls of Lutra! It’s not my favorite book (that honor goes to Mattimeo) but I think it would do very well as a movie, and all the characters have fantastic chemistry (and it’s a crime we didn’t get to see more of them). Plus I’m sort of into the comedy of Tansy finally holding all six pearls, looking at them, going, hmm, these are pretty, and then chucking them off the side of the boat, only to immediately turn to Grath and say, oh, sorry, I guess those were yours.
