Laundry day for the delinquents was nothing like back home, where machines did the cleaning for you.  That’s why many on Earth simply opted to not fuss over dirty clothes when they live in the dirt anyways.  Not Bellamy Blake, however, who has taken a liking to washing by hand.  Ava has taken a liking to the stream where Bellamy happens to do his laundry.

Bellamy Blake, after a hard day of work building the wall, teaching delinquents how to make proper weapons, and overall, just being bothered by everyone in the camp, needed to be left alone. Handing the reins to Murphy, to answer any dumb questions and keep eye on the camp, Bellamy nearly ran to the stream. Nearly. He didn’t want anyone paying more attention to him than usual and question where he was going with his clothes.

So there Bellamy sat, watching the sun begin to set into swirls of oranges, pinks, and blues, that he had never even dreamed of witnessing. The way the birds contrasted, black, against the now purple skies. No word that Bellamy had been taught, in both his Earth History class and in casual reading, was vibrant enough to describe what he was looking at. Sunset was both the most accurate and also underwhelming way to describe the sight above him. What Bellamy was not aware of, was that Ava was watching the same sunset with the same wonder.

Ava LaNue sat with her feet in the cool creek, pants loosely rolled up to her mid calf. Beside her feet was a net that held her fish from the day (thanks to her father’s advice as an Earth Skills teacher). The sun would be setting soon and hungry delinquents would start to question the girl’s unusual tardiness, so with a huff, Ava tied her net of fish and threw them over her shoulder. It was just under an hour long walk back to camp from the spot she fished at today. Most of this trip is simply following the creek downstream far enough out. The distance is worth the walking if it means keeping away from a hundred rowdy people. Just as Ava began to veer away from the creek and head towards camp, she saw a blue tee shirt drying on a flat rock.

“Hello…” Ava looked around the small clearing for any indication of someone being nearby. Had anyone been around, they would have heard a soft, “Finder’s keepers."  It smelled familiar and immediately the girl knew who it belonged to.

Ava cleaned up the fish she had caught so that the cook could begin his work.  Descaling and beheading the fish is easy enough now that she does it everyday.  Choruses of thanks comes from the group that’s starting the fire in the center of camp when Ava hands over the rations.

Another day, another fish the girl thought as she gathered up her fishing net, bucket, and drinking water.  She wore her new shirt, pants rolled up her calves, and her boots that she would remove once she made it to the river.  Ava set out her net in a different spot from yesterday and relaxed against a flat rock, toes in the water.  It was quite easy to be the fisherman for the group, but she wouldn’t tell anyone else that or else she would never get a moment of alone time.

A voice called out to her around noon,” You sure are working hard…“ Ava looked up at the noise.  Bellamy saw the delinquent that he knew quite well due to her loyalty to Octavia, with her pants rolled to her knees and her arms elbow deep in the water moving the net around, and her eyebrows high on her face in surprise.  She had a bit of a sunburn on her face and chest and even the tops of her arms from sitting out in the sun for days on end without the cover of trees.

"Well, someone has to.” Ava smiled at man as he watched her adjust the net.  “What can I help you with, Bellamy?"

Bellamy looked around the clearing before answering the girl, his hands on his hips, ” I was looking for some lost laundry when I decided to check in with you… see if the fish are biting.“ Bellamy smiled back at the girl, no longer looking at her face but rather her shoulder.  There was a hole there that looked quite like the hole in his missing shirt.  Which is crazy because all of the clothes on the Ark had holes in them.  The longer Bellamy watched her the more confident he felt that this could have been his lost shirt.

Ava stood up straight and began walking back to the bank,” Well, actually Bellamy, if the fish are biting, I wouldn’t know… I’m using a net.“ She winked at Bellamy before giving him a light punch to his shoulder as she passed, "And there is no lost laundry around here, sorry bud."

"Hmm… well what about laundry that has been found?"

"Is there something you want to ask me?” Ava had a small smirk on her face as she watched Bellamy figure out where his lost shirt went.  Bellamy felt that the smile was a bit devious, taunting even, like when Octavia would take something of his and pretend to know nothing about it.

“Is that my shirt?"

"It used to be, but Bellamy…”

“Yes, Ava?” Bellamy was curious to where this was going.

“Whatever the hell we want.”

Natalia Rhymes was fully aware that going out into the forest for a bath was a little dumb. Okay, maybe more than a little, but she just couldn’t help herself. With many hours invested into building the wall under the scorching heat, she felt that she had deserved a break

Clarke’s eyes scanned the camped survivors, all working feverishly to up their defenses, as people slowly started backing out from heat exhaustion. It had been a rather hot day since the 100 fell to the ground-Clarke had even rolled her sleeves to her shoulders and watched helplessly as all that could be done was to hunker down in the shade with water. John Murphy and Bellamy Blake seemed sympathetic and let the lack of work slide for once. Clarke felt miserable until a moving figure piqued her interest. A young woman with tan skin and dark hair was skirting around the edges of camp, but she didn’t look suspicious, just odd being the only person exerting any type of energy. Clarke’s eyes stayed glued to the woman’s figure until it disappeared behind a tent. Waiting a few minutes before investigating, Clarke decided she needed to know where the girl could have disappeared to.

“Hey Clarke, where ya goin’?” Finns voice stopped Clarke in her tracks and she quickly whipped around to face him. He too, was covered in sweat.

Clarke went to answer him but wasn’t quite sure what to say. ‘Oh you know, just following someone. No big.’ “ … it’s lady … stuff.” Clarke tucked in her bottom lip and looked away from Finn hoping he would get the hint. Which he absolutely did. Clarke looked up just in time to see Finn’s cheeks turn a soft rosy color at the unexpected answer.

He cleared his throat and motioned his arm in an ushering manner to let Clarke proceed. When Clarke found herself behind the tent there was no woman, just a loose piece of tin in the wall. She had an idea of where the girl just might be headed.

Natalia sat under the water for as long as her body would let her; her lungs burned as they begged for her to go up to the surface.  It was suffocating yet serene.  Space was the opposite.  Natalia would spend the rest of her life on the water if it meant to never go back to space.

On top of the water, looking up, the branches above waved in the breeze. Every leaf was the same and different, just as stars seem to be; yet Earth’s liveliness enveloped Natalia in a protective embrace.  Much warmer than any embrace she’s ever had.

Natalia was interrupted from her daydream by a twig snapping and a girl coming forward. Not just any girl, Clarke Griffin.  The undeclared co-leader of their rag-tag group of murderous delinquents.

“You shouldn’t be out here alone… the grounders are dangerous.” Clarke’s voice rang out from the shore as she watched the girl float, only the top half of her face visible.  Natalia came up a tad bit to fully look at the girl.

“I’m not alone… you’re here.” Natalia sunk back down into the cool water.  Clarke shook her head at her stubbornness but couldn’t blame the girl… the water looked relaxing.

Natalia came forward,“ You should join me… it’s amazing in here.  I’m Natalia.”

“Well Natalia, I don’t know how to swim.” Clarke quickly pushed the idea aside.  It isn’t fair for her to swim while the camp dies of a heatstroke.

The brown haired girl sunk below the water, out of Clarke’s sight.  It had been nearly a minute since she had come up for air- panic shot through Clarke’s body.  She slipped her boots off and started into the water just to be splashed by Natalia coming up.

Clarke rolled her eyes at the girl and turned to leave when she was pulled into the water.  It wasn’t very deep, but it was very cold.  Just what Clarke needed. “C'mon Natalia, I thought you were drowning.”

“Oh boo hoo! Just relax Clarke.” Natalia splashed Clarke again who in turn began to splash as well.

Suddenly Clarke stops splashing…“Are you wearing clothes?”

Natalia winked at the blonde,“Just now noticing? It feels a lot better than wearing wet clothes.”

Clarke sighed before shaking her head at the girl,“I’m going to need you to put on some clothes before you say anything else.”

“If you insist,” Natalia came above the water, effectively flashing Clarke everything under the sun. Clarke’s mouth fell open at the sight and she turned as quickly as the water would let her. Natalia, of course, was completely unbothered and found the cute blonde’s reaction comical.
