The first time was the first time I think I finished a chapter without failing anything.
That very first time, the trust is palpable. It’s something thick in the atmosphere, hanging there and making time sticky. Every little thing is so new, so unknown for her, and you’re the person to guide her, show her what’s good and bad, what she’ll have to work on loving, and the things that will make her flare at the merest suggestion.
In that kind of mind, the gag feels to me like that final safety belt buckled on a rollercoaster. Once that’s on, that’s it, you’re on for the ride. Take away a submissive’s speech and she’s pretty much locked in to what you’re going to do to her. It’s that last moment when she can utter a plea, or start to beg and whine. You can see it in her eyes, feel that moment start to stretch, draw itself out, before you fasten it in place and start to peak over that crest.
And then the rollercoaster falls, and everyone screams with delight.
