“But you had it in control for a while!” Stiles turned back to you in the backseat as he followed closely behind Derek and the Kanima. “I read somewhere that the black mist that comes from your fists means you’re using black magic. And no one can really control it. But the green eyes mean-“

“Stiles!” Scott gasped as the Jeep slowly drifted off the road. “Road! Eyes on the road!”

“Sorry!” Stiles whipped the vehicle back into the lane. “Y/N, your eyes were glowing green! That means you were in control! That was normal magic!”

“But I was weaker! I can’t defend myself with just normal magic. I need black-“

“Oh my god. You’re kidding, right? You can’t possibly be justifying the use of black magic when you know that’s what makes you go crazy!” Scott turned around, looking back at you, only to see that you were being dead serious. “Okay, it’s official. You’re out of your fucking mind, Y/N! You need my blood. Give me your hand!”

“First off, I’m not giving you anything when you talk to me that way,” You scoffed. “Second of all, no! I’m weaker when we do that. And you need all the help you can get!”

“You actually think you’re helping me? In the unstable state that you’re in right now? The last thing I need is to be caught up in rescuing you when there are lives on the line!” Scott finally snapped.

“Whatever.”

“Don’t you get it? I had to leave Allison and Lydia to fend for themselves while Erica was trying to kill them because you were so out of control tonight!”

“Why are you always so quick to make me the bad guy, Scott? I was not out of control!”

“I SMELLED IT ON YOU, Y/N! You were about to kill everything in sight had I not stopped you!” He roared, making your lips part.

“Woah, dude, I think the last thing she needs is someone yelling at her right now,” Stiles stepped in. Scott sighed, realizing your eyes began to fill with tears at his tone.

“No, you’re right. I’m sorry,” He paused before going on. “Look, I just.. I can’t keep babysitting you when there are lives on the line. You’re better off weak and in control than allowing that dark magic to endanger the people you love.”

Your breath hitched. He was right. You felt it too, the desire to kill. The darkness in your mind fought to stay, even if it meant lying to yourself and the boys. The magic you used was no longer for self defense or even to defend those you loved. The darkness that possessed you wanted everyone and everything around you gone. You didn’t even want to think about what would’ve happened had Scott not been there when he was.

Stiles looked into the rear view mirror to see you purse your lips. His heart sank when he saw the realization set in; in that moment, the old you finally shone through. With teary eyes, you fought against every part of you that told you to keep your hand to yourself and hesitantly held it out.

Scott gave you a look of guilt. You knew he hated the person he became around the dark you. He hated yelling at you. He hated seeing that look in your eyes, the one that wanted- no, needed to kill. He hated seeing his best friend realize that she was no longer the protagonist in this story.

His claw sliced through your palm, making you wince, before his bloodied hand came in contact with your own. The familiar tingle fluttered against your skin before a burst of pain hit you both. You both groaned and hissed as the blood sizzled between your hands; this was far more painful than the previous time. You saw a flash of white in midst of the pain. You yelped, gripping onto his hand as the dark part of your mind tempted you to stop.

All this pain can go away if you just let go, it said. You will be stronger than any supernatural being if you let go. You will be able to defend those you love if you just let go.

Just as you thought you couldn’t handle much more, the pain dissipated almost as quickly as it came.

Your busy mind finally fell to silence. The buzzing and the constant chatter in your head fizzled away to nothing, and the darkness that weighed down your chest finally lifted. For a moment, you felt as if you could finally breathe again. Everything was okay again.

“How you feelin’?” Scott asked carefully, making you realize both set of eyes were on you.

“Better. God, a lot better actually,” You breathed as the Jeep whipped around another corner. “You?”

“Yeah, I’m all g-“

FUCK!” Stiles shouted before the Jeep halted to a quick stop. You looked at the road in front of you to see a spike strip blocking the road. He stopped and looked over at Scott. “What do we do now?”

“Stay here!” Scott called as he ran out of the Jeep and towards the Kanima. You both watched as your best friend disappeared around a corner. The sounds of growls and hisses echoed through the concreted space you sat in. Stiles reached for his radio, turning on soft music to try and drown out the eery sounds of the fight going on just around the corner.

Within a few minutes, you felt your body begin to come down from the adrenaline that came with the pain. You were fatigued to the core. Every part of you felt as if it had been depleted of all energy. You never realized how much of a toll the magic had on your body until it left.

“Hey, you alright?” Stiles muttered, not failing to notice the way your heavy eyelids drooped. You rested your cheek on your now healed palm, drowsily looking up at him.

“Physically or emotionally?” You yawned.

“Both.”

“Oh, well in that case, kinda shitty,” You responded, making him chuckle. “Physically, I don’t think I’ve ever felt this tired before. I feel like I just participated a triathlon or something.“

“Yeah, you look like it too,” He nodded, making your head shoot up slightly with a playful smile. “Hair and everything. You look rough.”

“Hey!”

“Don’t get me wrong, you still look unfathomably beautiful. But you look like a tornado sucked you up and spit you out,” He smiled. “Or like an earthquake-”

“I got it, Stiles,” You interrupted before you both chuckled. “Thank you for that.”

“And emotionally?”

“Not doing too great after that comment,” You joked, making him laugh before you cleared your throat. “No, but uh.. I felt a little numb when the magic was really beginning to control me. It almost felt good to let it take the wheel. It was easier than fighting it but now, I… God, I feel awful. I almost killed Jackson. And tonight, I was going to kill Isaac and Erica had Scott not stopped me.”

“Hey, don’t be too hard on yourself,” Stiles shook his head, taking your hand into his own. “That was just the black magic. It wasn’t you.”

“Wasn’t it though? It was mymind.Mythoughts.My desires. It might’ve rewired my thinking but it was still me.. Sti, I didn’t just want to kill, it was like I needed to. Had Scott not been there tonight, I might’ve…” You trailed off, finally looking back up at your boyfriend. You felt hot tears begin to pool again in your eyes before letting go of his hand and looking at your lap.

His lips parted. You didn’t have to finish your thought. He knew exactly what you meant; you might have to killed him too.

“But he was there and you didn’t. You had it under control for a moment!”

“Until I got scared,” You muttered. “I can’t control it when I’m mad either.”

“So it’s not a matter of controlling your powers, you made it pretty obvious that you’re fully capable of doing that. It’s a matter of controlling your emotions,” Stiles smiled. “Sounds like something we’ve done before.”

“You’re not gonna duck tape my hands and launch lacrosse balls into my chest, are you?” You groaned. Stiles threw his head back in laughter, opening his mouth to respond just before you saw the Kanima jump over the Jeep with Scott closely behind him, making you both scream.

Stiles’ eyes widened as he looked over at you.

“Was that..?”

“Yup, hop up here and help me follow them!” He waited for you to jump into the passenger’s seat before he reversed the Jeep and followed your best friend down various streets and alleys. You helped Stiles locate where the two were headed, yelling a series of “Left! He went left!” and “Right! No, no! Your other right!”.

Finally, you parked the Jeep as Scott ran into an alleyway. You both jogged up behind him, making him jump.

“Wait, wait! Sorry, sorry!” Stiles yelped before Scott had the chance to cause any harm. “Did you see where he went?”

“I lost him..”

“What? You couldn’t catch his scent?” You chimed in.

“I don’t think he has one,” Scott shook his head.

“All right, any clue where he’s going?” Stiles asked.

“To kill someone.”

Ah! That explains the claws and the fangs and all that. Good. Makes perfect sense now,” Stiles deadpanned, making Scott roll his eyes. You smiled. “What? Scott, come on. I’m 146 pounds of pale skin and fragile bone, okay? Sarcasm is my only defense!”

“Just help me find it!”

“Not ‘it’, Jackson,” You corrected.

“You’re right. I know, I know,” Scott breathed.

“But does he know know that?” Stiles asked. “Did anybody else see him back at your house?”

“I mean, I don’t think so, but he already passed Derek’s test anyway,” You shook your head.

“Yeah, but that’s just the thing. How did he pass the test?” Stiles turned to you.

“He gave Jackson the Kanima’s venom to see if it would paralyze him, and it did. He thinks that since a snake can’t be killed by its own venom, the same can be applied to this situation,” You explained.

“So it’s an either-or thing… When’s the Kanima not the Kanima?” Stiles raised his brows.

“When it’s Jackson,” You muttered before looking up at him again and grinning. You were about to compliment his intelligence when the Kanima’s tail sticking out of a window upstairs. Your face fell as you backed up, trying to get a better view.

“What? What’d you see?” Stiles asked, looking up. “Oh shit. Dude!”

“Yeah, I see it too,” Scott breathed as it crawled in completely. “He’s inside.”

“What’s he gonna do in there?” Stiles questioned. You watched as Scott’s eyes wandered towards the entrance.

“I know who he’s after!” He gasped, you tried following his gaze but couldn’t see past the bouncer.

“What, how? How? Did you smell something?” Stiles asked. Your jaw dropped when you stepped aside to see Danny standing in line.

“Armani.”

“There’s a door over there!” You pointed, hesitating to follow behind them.

“You coming?” Scott asked.

“It’s a gay club. I feel like I’ll only draw attention to you guys if I go in with you,” You shook your head. “Maybe I should just wait in the Jeep.”

“What? No way! Not when the Kanima is nearby!” Stiles protested, stepping away from the door.

“You’re joking, right? You saw her tonight! She can take care of herself. Fuck, I’m even scared to mess with her!” Scott chuckled.

“She’s weaker now. And look at her, dude. She’s running on adrenaline right now but as soon as she settles down, she’ll fall asleep! I can’t let her go alone,” Stiles shook his head. “There’s no way she can fend for herself when she’s asleep.”

“What are you gonna do? Scare the Kanima with your sarcasm?” Scott deadpanned.

“For someone who doesn’t like sarcasm, you’re pretty damn good at it,” Stiles grumbled.

“Go! You’re wasting time! I’ll be fine. Scott will know if I’m in danger because of the bond. Give me the keys and go!” You laughed. Stiles paused before finally tossing you his keys.

“Be careful. Don’t fall asleep!” He pointed at you as he jogged in behind Scott.

You smiled and walked back to the Jeep. You decided to sprawl out in the back seats to rest. You genuinely tried to stay awake but the next thing you knew, you woke up to Stiles banging on the driver’s door. You scrambled to unlock the door before noticing a naked Jackson laying limply in Scott’s arms.

“Looks like you two had fun,” You smirked.

“Not as much fun as you’re about to have,” Scott smiled before all but tossing Jackson into your lap.

“Ew! I don’t want him!” Your face scrunched up, making the boys laugh. “Why is he naked?!”

“Long story. I’ll be back!” Scott called as he jogged off towards the arriving ambulances. Stiles climbed into the driver’s seat and looked back with a smirk.

“If you’re going to make some sly remark about the size of his dick, I don’t want to hear it,” You sighed, making his face fall.

“Never mind then,” He grumbled, turning around the face the front again. “He paralyzed a few guys but they’re all gonna be fine.”

“Did Scott do this?” You asked, looking at the bloody claw marks sliced through the peaceful boy in your lap.

“No. That was Derek.”

“Derek was here too?”

“Couldn’t get anything out of Danny,” Scott interrupted as he hopped back in the Jeep.

“Okay, can we just get the hell out of here now before one of my dad’s deputies sees me?” Stiles asked before starting the vehicle. As if on cue, the sheriff swerved into the parking lot, right in front of the Jeep. “Oh my god. Oh my god. Could this get any worse?”

Jackson moaned loudly and snuggled into you, leaving you with a face of disgust.

“That was rhetorical!” Stiles snapped, looking back at him.

“Get rid of him,” Scott said.

“Get rid of him? We’re at a crime scene and he’s the sheriff!”

“Do something!” Scott shrugged. Your boyfriend grumbled something and flailed his arms before letting himself out of the car. “Y/N, get down. He won’t be able to play off the fact we’re at a gay club if his dad sees you.”

“Getdown?!” You looked down at Jackson, realizing you’d either have to stick your chest in his face or lower your own face near his crotch. “No way!”

“What’s going on?” Jackson mumbled.

“Jackson, shut the fuck up for a second, would you?” You snapped. “He’s waking up, asshole! I’m not getting all up in his business!”

Jackson moaned loudly again, lifting his head off of your legs. You rolled your eyes and shoved his head back down.

“Dude! Be careful, he’s hurt. Jackson, be quiet!” Scott whispered. “Y/N, would you rather have your boyfriend to be grounded for an eternity or suck it up and get down?!”

“What’s happening?” Jackson asked. You sighed before lowering yourself out of the Sheriff’s sight. Unfortunately, your chest was pressed against Jackson’s face. You cursed yourself for wearing a low cut top that day. “Whatever’s happening, I’m not mad about it.”

Ew,” You gagged. You were about to sit up again when you felt Scott’s hand push you back down. “What the hell, Scott?”

“I’m sorry. I’m sorry. They’re looking over,” He smiled and waved at the Stilinskis. Only moments after, Stiles hopped back in and reversed out of the crime scene. He looked over his shoulder to make sure he was clear to back out when he saw the unfortunate position you were in.

“Scott made me do it,” You said.

“Dude, can we please just kill him?!” Stiles whined as the car sped through the streets of Beacon Hills. You sat back up.

“No! He’s just a kid!”

“Okay, then where are we gonna keep him?” You asked, looking down at him to see that he was fast asleep again. “Because he has a pack of werewolves and hunters after him.”

“I don’t know.”

“Uh, what about your house?” Stiles asked.

“My mom’s home tonight. And my dad’s still in town so my place isn’t an option,” You sighed.

“Scott?”

“Not with my mom there,” Scott shook his head.

“Jesus, where was this parental attendance when we were growing up?!“ Stiles huffed, referring to the amount of time the two of you spent at his house as kids while your parents were working.

“We need to keep him somewhere where can can hold him long enough to figure out what to do with him!” Scott said. “Or long enough to convince him he’s dangerous.”

“No, I’m with Stiles on this one. I say we just kill him.”

“THANK YOU!”

“We’re not killing him!” Scott scolded.

“Let’s take a vote. Raise your hand if you think we should kill Jackson.”

Both you and your boyfriend’s hands shot up.

“You’re outnumbered. Take a left, it’ll take us to the forest so we can-“

“We aren’t taking a fucking vote, you idiots. We are not killing him!” Scott grabbed Stiles’ hand and put it down again.

“God! Okay!” He grumbled. “Okay, wait. I have an idea!”

“Does it involve breaking the law?” Scott questioned.

“Scott, it’s Stiles talking. Don’t you think that’s a given?” You rolled your eyes.

“I was just trying to be optimistic!”

“Don’t bother,” Stiles replied.

“But like.. just how illegal is it because I still want to get into Yale,” You muttered.

“Maybe you should this this one out then,” Stiles pursed his lips.

“Wh- no way! We’re in this together.”

———

“STILES! MCCALL! I’M GONNA KILL YOU!” Jackson roared from inside the prison transport van Stiles ‘borrowed’ from the Sheriff’s Station.

“Okay, maybe you were right. I probably should’ve sat this one out,” You nodded.

“Told ya,” Stiles scrunched his nose sympathetically. “Here’s the deal. I need you to go to school today, alright? We can’t all be absent or it’ll look weird.”

“Do I have to? My body is drained from the blood transfer thing we did last night,” You groaned.

“Yeah, unfortunately you do. But I’ll stay behind with Jackson then switch shifts with Allison and Scott after school so that you and I can get some sleep, sound good?” He asked, watching as you yawned and sleepily rubbed your face. He normally loved seeing you so sleepy; he could melt on the spot from how cute you looked when you did that. But he felt felt his heart drop a little, feeling as if he was asking too much of you. He pouted empathetically and caressed your cheek. “Aww, don’t do that. I know you’re tired, I’m sorry. But just try to get through the day, alright? I swear we’ll have the best nap of your life after school.”

You nodded and yawned again, sticking out your pinky. He chuckled and gladly took it in his own before kissing your hand.

“I have an extra energy drink in the Jeep. Take it with you,” He smiled before kissing your forehead and watching you leave. “I love you!”

“I love you too!” You called as you hopped into Scott’s car and drove off.

Stiles grabbed his backpack and climbed into the back of the van, checking to make sure Jackson was still in his human state before fully hopping in. “Alright, I bought you some food-“

“LET ME OUT NOW!” Jackson growled, making Stiles jump back. He slammed his backpack down before sitting up again.

“You know, my girlfriend and I put those pants on you, alright, buddy? One leg at a time!” Stiles snapped. “Being all up-close and personal with your junk wasn’t exactly a highlight of my day. So don’t think this is fun for me either. You know we’re actually doing you a favor?”

“This is doing me a favor?”

“Yes! Y-You’re killing people!” Stiles deadpanned. “To death. Yeah! And until we can figure out how to stop you, you’re gonna stay in here. I’m sorry. Now, do you want the ham and cheese or the turkey club?”

———

The school day trudged by slowly. You fell asleep a few times in a few of your classes. You didn’t fully wake up until you saw Mrs. Argent walk into your class and introduce herself as your new substitute teacher. After school, Allison told you exactly what her grandfather told her; Jackson’s parents went to the police. They were looking for the van.

She gave you a ride to the spot in the woods where Stiles parked the van. You saw him holding Jackson’s phone and typing before you ran up to him.

“OH MY GOD!” He screamed before realizing it was you.

“They know,” You said.

“What?!”

“They know Jackson’s missing!”

“No, they can’t. I’ve been texting his parents since last night. They don’t have a clue!”

“Gerard told Al that his parents went to the police,” You shook your head. “They know.”

Stiles looked down at the phone in his hands and held it out before he gasped. He whimpered before handing you the phone and opening the van’s door. You followed him, hearing the dispatch radio order all available units to the woods.

“Al!” You jogged back over to her car. “Can you lead us to your secret spot?”

“Yeah, follow me!”

You ran over to and hopped into Stiles’ jeep before following close behind her. You looked in the rearview mirror to see Stiles was not far behind. You saw him on the phone and assumed he was updating Scott on your new location. You all drove for about five minutes before finally parking beside a cliff. Scott was already there waiting on you all.

You all hopped out and walked with him as he spoke.

“If Jackson doesn’t remember being the Kanima, he’s definitely not gonna remember stealing Danny’s tablet,” Scott sighed as you all walked away from the van.

“Why would he steal the thing if he doesn’t even know what’s on it?” Stiles asked.

“What if someone else took it?” Allison jumped in.

“Then somebody else knows what he is,” You said.

“Which could mean someone’s protecting him!” Scott nodded.

“Like the bestiary says, the Kanima seeks a friend, right?” Allison agreed.

“I need to retranslate that paper to make sure, but yeah.”

“So somebody watches Jackson make a video of himself turning into the Kanima and then just erases part of it so he wouldn’t know?” Stiles furrowed his brow. “I mean who would do that?”

“Somebody who wanted to protect him?” Allison asked.

“There’s something else. The only thing Stiles found online about the Kanima is that it goes after murderers. What if that’s actually true?” You proposed.

“Well, no, it can’t be. It tried to kill all of us, remember?” Stiles’ tone softened when he spoke to you before he turned to the rest of the pack. “I don’t know about you guys but I haven’t murdered anybody lately.”

“Exactly! If it wanted to kill us, we’d all be dead by now. It didn’t kill Scott and Allison at Isaac’s, it didn’t kill you in the mechanic’s garage!”

“Well, yeah, but it tried to kill me and Derek in the pool.”

“But it didn’t.”

“Itwould’ve. It was waiting for us to come out!”

“No, she’s right,” Scott interrupted. “What if it was trying to keep you in?”

“..Why do I feel so violated all of the sudden?” Stiles paused.

“Because there’s something else going on! We don’t know what it is. We don’t know anything about what’s going on with Jackson or why someone’s protecting him,” Scott put his hand on your shoulder as he spoke.

Know thy enemy,” Allison muttered, gaining all of your attentions. “Just something my grandfather said.”

“All right. I got it. Kill Jackson. Problem solved!” Stiles shrugged.

“He risked his life for us. Against Peter, you remember that?” Scott spat.

“Yes, but what did we just find out? He got the bite from Derek,” Stiles lowered his tone. “It’s funny how he just got exactly what he wanted by supposedly risking his life for us, it’s funny!”

“Yeah but it doesn’t mean he’s not still worth saving!”

“It’s always something with him, though,” You agreed with your boyfriend.

“He doesn’t know what he’s doing!” Scott argued.

“So what?” Stiles hissed.

“So, I didn’t either! And for that matter, Y/N still doesn’t know sometimes either!” Scott explained before turning to Al. “You remember when I almost killed you and Jackson? Or, Y/N, the way you almost killed Isaac and Erica last night! We had someone to stop us. He has nobody!”

“That’s his own fault,” Stiles scoffed.

“Doesn’t matter,” Scott replied. “If we can save him, we should try… Y/N?”

The boys both looked at you before you sighed.

“I hate to admit it but Scott’s right,” You nodded before yawning. “We’re privileged enough to have a support system when we are at our worst. How does that make us more worthy of living?”

“Fuck, I hate it when you make sense,” Stiles grumbled. “Fine, we’ll try to save him. But I need to get this one home. She’s drained.”

“Okay, we’ll take the evening shift,” Scott nodded. “Meet up at 11:00?”

“Sure thing, buddy,” Stiles nodded before guiding you back to his Jeep. “Before I forget, you making driving my Jeep look so good.”

“Do I?” You laughed as he opened your door for you.

“Uh,ch’yeah!” He nodded before jogging over to his side. “Not gonna lie, you had me a little worried at first. I thought you didn’t know how to drive a stick.”

“I don’t,” You shrugged making his eyes snap over at you. “I kinda just remembered you talking about it and-“

“You used your magic to help you, didn’t you?”

“Oh, I definitely used my magic to help me. That was complete bullshit,” You nodded as he threw his head back in laughter. “I kind of have a better idea as to how to control it now though. When I used my magic last night. I won’t lie, though, it’s going to take a lot of practice to get it as strong as black magic.”

“If anyone can do it, it’s you,” Stiles smiled over at you, picking up your hand hand placing a kiss on the back of it. “There’s not a doubt in my mind that you can master it. It’ll be hard but you got me and Scott in your corner.”

“You’re the best, you know that?” You grinned before yawning again. “I love you.”

“I love you too, sleepyhead. Now let’s go take a nap, yeah?” He asked.

He drove you back to his house. You practically ran into his room, sighing with relief when you caught a glimpse of his bed. He chuckled when he saw you quickly take off your shoes and jump in. Within seconds of your head touching the pillow, you were out cold.

He took his sneakers and crawling in beside you. As he set an alarm for 10:00 PM, you rolled over and snuggled into him. He smiled down at you before setting his phone down and holding you until he drifted off as well.

———

Six hours past by before the alarm woke you both up. You sat up and stretched.

“What time is it?” You groaned as you stretched your arms above your head.

“10:00,” Stiles mumbled, turning off his alarm. You couldn’t help but smile at how sleepy his hazel eyes were, batting his dark eyelashes in an attempt to stay awake. “What are you looking at?” He chuckled.

“You,” You giggled. “You’re so handsome. Can you blame me?”

“Not really, no. I’d be drawn to my devilishly handsome face too,” He shrugged, making you laugh. He reached out for you, pulling you into his chest before playing mindlessly with your hair. “How are you feeling?”

“So much better,” You sighed.

“That’s good,” He mumbled into your hair. “I was really worried about you.”

“During school or because of last night?” You asked.

“Both. But mostly last night,” He responded as you readjusted to be able to to look into his eyes as he spoke. “The way your eyes went black. And the way you easily broke Isaac’s arm. Seeing that reminded me of the severity of using magic, you know? Then when we were in the car and you refused to give Scott your hand, I-.. I thought for a second that I might’ve lost you. I felt like a little kid watching my mom’s dementia take over her mind again.”

“Sti..” You furrowed your brows before placing a sweet kiss on his chest. “I’m so sorry. I never meant to scare you or hurt anyone. I didn’t mean to-”

“No, no, it’s okay! Don’t apologize. I know it wasn’t in your control. I’m just happy you’re back to normal now,” He smiled softly before you kissed his lips. As you pulled away, he gently pulled you back in for another kiss. “Mm, give me another one.”

You giggled against his lips as you both sweetly kissed. It was a moment of pure love and appreciation. You were both happy things were, for the most part, back to normal. After a couple of minutes, though, the kiss deepened into something of passion and desire.

He flipped you over on your back as your legs wrapped around his torso. He kissed your lips for a few more moments before slowing moving down your neck and then behind your ear. You let out as his soft lips pressed against that spot behind your ear that made you go crazy. He smiled as your hips slightly bucked up.

It was your turn to flip him over, straddling his hips before he sat up to continue the kiss. His hands entangled themselves in your hair, tugging slightly in the midst of the heated moment. Your hips began to slowly and firmly grind into his own, making him moan with anticipation.

“You’re making it really hard to get ready to go back to the woods,” He said between kisses.

“They can wait a little longer,” You whispered. “We never get the house to ourselves.”

“Are you sure you want to do this?” He pulled away, looking into your eyes as he caressed his cheek. “Because it’s totally okay if you don’t. You’ve had a rough-“

“Stiles, you have no idea how badly I want you to fuck me,” You said with a coy smile. A subtly blush rose to his cheeks as he shot you a lopsided grin. “Are you gonna make me beg for it?”

“Maybe,” He bit his lip as he looked at your own. “I haven’t decided yet.”

“I think I know how to convince you,” You looked at him, a devious smile with the eyes of an angel. You were killing him. Your fingers traced the top of his jeans, teasing him with the fact that you wanted them off. “As long as you’re okay with it.”

“Oh my god. I’m so okay with this,” He stumbled on his words as your fingers made their way to unbutton his pants. You pushed him back on the pillow before slowly kissing down his chest, his stomach, and leaving a sloppy kiss on both of his hips.

You finally pulled his pants down and smiled at his length. You pressed a small kiss on the tip before licking a stripe from the base of his shaft to the top.

“Stop teasing me,” He whined, making you smile as you looked up at him. “Please, baby.”

You wrapped your lips around him before slowly making your way down. You couldn’t fit him all the way in your mouth without gagging, so you used a hand at the base to help you out. He threw his head back as the tip of his cock touched the back of your throat. His hand wrapped itself in your hair as you strategically bobbed your head up and down.

The noises of pure bliss, the whimpers and shivers you sent through him; it all drove you crazy. You looked up at his as he moved your head at his desired pace, only to see his mouth agape and eyes fixated on you. He twitched in your mouth before you felt him pull you back up, placing a kiss on your lips.

“Your turn,” He smirked, laying you down and kissing you. He slowly discarded your clothes as he kissed down your body. He left wet kissing down your neck, lingering at your collarbones and on your chest before toying the the bottom of your shirt. You took it off alone with your bra, leaving him gawking at the beauty before him.

“Fuck, you’re so beautiful,” He whispered before he took your breasts into his hands and kissing them. His mouth found its way to your right nipple as he squeezed the other in between his fingers. You moaned as you placed your hand behind his head. His swollen lips trailed down your chest and stomach before he pulled at your legs, positioning closer you to the edge of the bed where he stood.

Stiles unbuttoned your pants as he kissed your stomach, wiggling them down eagerly before carelessly tossing them on the floor beneath him. He slowly parted your legs before crouching before you.

He kissed the waistline of your panties before moving down further, kissing just above the wet spot. It was his turn to tease you. He looked up through his lashes as you groaned, “Stiles, please.”

“I thought you didn’t beg,” He smirked.

“You proved me wrong,” You breathed as he pressed another kiss on your covered clit. “Please, baby.”

“Well, when you say it like that,” He chuckled before leaning down. His tongue dragged up and down your slit, only sucking on your clit for a moment before slipping back down again. He enjoyed hearing the frustrated noises that came out of you.

“You’re being such an asshole,” You whined.

“Hm?” He smiled. “A what?”

“An-oh my god,” You moaned as he finally gave you what you wanted. His tongue flickered against your clit while he sucked slightly.

God, you’re so wet,” He mumbled, pulling away as he rubbed his fingered up and down your slit again before inserting a finger and connecting his lips to your clit once more. He had you gripping the sheets, moaning out a euphony of words, including his name. He felt your walls clench around his fingers but kept the same pace. In a matter of seconds, your back arched as you all but screamed his name. He pulled away, watching you lay in bliss, heaving and sweating. He did that to you. “Christ, you look so fucking hot when you cum.”

“Wanna see how hot I look when you’re inside of me?” You breathed with a smile. He nodded frantically before you both readjusted on the bed. His lips crashed back down on your own and your hand trailed over to his nightstand. “I can’t find the condom.”

“Here, let me,” He pulled away and grabbed the condom package, pausing before he opened it. “And you’re still sure you wanna do this?”

“Mhm, I’m sure,” You smiled and took the package out of his hand, ripping it with your teeth and handing him the condom. “Are you?”

“I’ve never been so sure of anything in my life,” He said, making you giggle. He rolled on the condom before kissing you again. He teased your with his tip, rubbing it up to your clit and back down. “I’ll go slow.”

He gently but firmly pressed himself against your entrance. You let out a small gasp at the new sensation as his tip slowly made its way into you.

“You okay?” He paused.

“Mhm,” You smiled, pulling at his hips a little. He began sliding into you again, watching as your jaw dropped and your brows furrowed. He would’ve stopped had it not been for you pulling his hips into you. “Let me feel all of you.”

He finally pushed in all of the way, keeping still as your tight pussy clenched around him, trying to get used to the sensation. He thrusted lightly for a few more moments before you relaxed into him and began moaning with pleasure.

“Faster,” You breathed, making his brows shoot up. He was impressed by how well you were taking it. He sped up the pace, barely able to hold back his cum. Your pussy was tight and wet; it was nothing like he’d ever felt before. If he wasn’t completely obsessed with you before, the way your moved and moaned below him, the way your nails dug into his back, the way you whimpered his name along with all of the other filthy words that fell out of your mouth, he was utterly enamored by you now.

“I’m close,” He groaned as he continued at your desired pace.

“Cum for me, baby,” You whispered in his ear. That was enough to push him over the edge, he pulled out and finished the rest of the orgasm off with his hand before plopping down next to you, breathing hard with a smile on his face.

“How do you feel?” He looked over at you to see your smile mirrored that of his own.

“Like we should’ve done this a long time ago,” You replied, making him laugh.

“No kidding. I could definitely get used to this,” He agreed as you giggled. You rolled over and wrapped your arm around his sweaty torso.

“How are you feeling?” You asked, kissing his neck. He’d never experienced you in this state; your hand mindlessly roamed around his chest as your lips continuously pressed to his collarbone and neck. He almost preferred seeing this side of you over the sex itself.

“Me? Oh, I’m awesome!” He grinned, looking over at you as you giggled. “I love you.”

“I love you too,” You smiled before looking at the clock. “Uh.. What time were we supposed to meet up with Scott?”

“11:00, why? What time is it?” Stiles looked over to see the clock read 12:43 AM. “Oh shit! Are you okay to like get dressed?”

“Stiles, we just had sex. I didn’t get shot,” You deadpanned.

“Well, I don’t know how this works! Scott told me girls bleed when they have sex. And it’s gotta hurt, right? I mean, it’s such a small hole that gets stretched out and- please interrupt me! I’m ranting!” He flailed his arms, making you laugh.

“Honestly, I thought it would hurt more but it was just a lot of pressure at first. Then it felt good,” You smiled. “Really good.”

“Wait, really?!” He stopped.

“Mhm,” You nodded standing up and walking over to his closet. He couldn’t keep his eyes off of your figure as you searched for a t-shirt. “And I didn’t bleed either! I thought that would happen too!”

“Probably wouldn’t be the worst thing to put a cautionary pad on though, right?” He asked. “I have some under the sink for you if you need them.”

You put on his Beatles shirt before bending down to grab your athletic spandex and a pair of underwear from your backpack that you didn’t use earlier that day and throwing those on underneath. “That’s not a bad idea actually. I’ll be right back.”

After you finished up in the bathroom, you both hopped into the Jeep before heading back to Allison and Scott’s spot. You placed your hand on the back of Stiles’ neck, rubbing it with your thumb as he hummed along to an old cassette. As he pulled up, you realized that the van’s back door was wide open.

“Fuck,” You whispered before hopping out of the car and running up to the van, only to see that it was completely empty. “Jackson’s gone!”

“What the hell? Where’s Scott?” Stiles asked before he caught glimpse of Allison’s car. “Oh, you’ve gotta be kidding me!”

He marched over and peaked in the back window. You ran up behind him to see Allison cuddled up with Scott, both naked and covered only by a thin blanket. You banged on the window, causing them to snap awake.

“You guys might wanna come take a look at this!” Stiles spoke. You both turned around to give the two a moment of privacy to change. Once they were dressed, you all jogged over to the van to see the empty makeshift holding cell.

“I have to tell my father,” Allison blinked. Scott walked away from the three of you in thought.

“I think she’s right, Scott. He’s going to kill someone,” You bit your lip.

“Okay, tell him,” He nodded. “Tell him everything.”

“Scott, I gotta tell mine, too,” Stiles spoke up.

“This is all my fault,” Scott muttered.

“It’s not,” Allison shook her head, speaking in a soft tone. “But we have to tell them. We’re just a bunch of teenagers. We can’t handle this.”

“You’re right.”

“How’re you gonna make your dad believe all this?” You asked your boyfriend.

“I don’t know,” Stiles sighed. Scott turned around, shining his golden eyes at the three of you.

“He’ll believe me,” He said.

The pack decided to split up, the boys going to the Sheriff’s station and you riding home with Allison. She left the bestiary at home and needed you to translate it properly now that you were basically fluent in Latin.

“Here’s the paper, you think you can get anything new out of it?” She asked, handing you the Kanima’s page she printed from the bestiary. You sat down, looking at the paper and translating it again, fixing all of the errors you initially made.

“Are you sure? I thought that meant ‘friend’. ‘The Kanima seeks a friend’.”

“I was wrong,” You shook your head before looking up. “It means ‘master’.”

The Kanima seeks a master..” Allison muttered. “Someone’s not protecting him.”

“Someone’s controlling him,” You finished as you both gave each other looks of horror.

“They’re coming back, so we don’t have much time to talk,” Deaton explained before checking Scott’s wound, only to see a healthy scar beginning to disappear. “Delvoux blood. Powerful stuff, huh?”

“How do you know all of this?” Scott questioned as you stepped back towards Stiles, his hand instantly made his way to the small of your back. “Actually how do you know anything?”

“It’s a long story,” He replied. “What I can tell you is that I know about your kind. Your kind, I can help. Y/N, I can only tell you what I know. The rest is up to you. But this?”

He motioned over his shoulder.

“This is something different.”

“Do you know what did it?” You asked, desperately wanting to ask more questions about his previous comment but refraining due to the urgency of the situation.

“No. But the Argents will. And this is the crucial part,” Deaton looked back at Scott, speaking urgently. “They’ll have some kind of record or book. Little have descriptions, history, notations of all the things they’ve discovered.”

All the things?” Stiles whined. “How many different things are there?”

“They’re here,” Scott breathed. You both looked over at him with wide eyes before you all opted to run into the dark hallway that led towards the kennels. Scott made sure to stand the closest to the door in an effort to protect his best friends. His eyes looked over at you before slowly putting his index finger to his lips. You nodded.

“I’m starting to think I need to buy a more prominent close sign,” Deaton spoke, warning you all of their presence. Stiles noticed the fear in your eyes and took your hand in his reassuringly.

You all listened into the tense conversation; the creature had easily cut through bone and organs with a single swipe. It was evident that it was no longer just werewolves and hunters you needed to fear; this was an entirely new beast. Something faster, stronger, and more dangerous. It didn’t seek to eat prey like the usual natural predators; it’s only purpose was to kill.

After they left, Deaton told you all to go home. He didn’t want you to stay too long with this killer on the loose. You all crawled back into your car and made your way to the Beacon Hills car shop. You all spoke of the night before deciding to put a pin in the conversation so that you could all gather your thoughts and brainstorm ideas.

“Are you sure you don’t want us to come with you?” You furrowed your brows.

“Yeah, I’m sure. It’s gonna take about an hour anyway. You need to get the car back to your dad. I don’t want you to piss him off,” Stiles smiled. You sighed. “I’ll be fine. Get outta here!”

“Okay! Okay!” You laughed as he reached over to kiss your cheek before making his exit. Scott was quick to take the front seat. “God, I can’t wait to have my own car.”

“Join the club,” He chuckled before you drove away. You had intended on driving him back to his car but you took off into one of your usual conversations, stopping to sing along to one of your dad’s infamous burned CDs. You pulled into the school parking lot and parked next to Melissa’s car, only to spend the next hour and a half chatting and giggling. Once the much needed, lighthearted conversation came to a lull, you both decided to talk about the night’s events again for the next twenty minutes.

“I think it should be pretty easy to convince Allison to help us get that journal,” Scott shrugged, readjusting in his seat before sighing. “I’m actually still a little bummed that she canceled on me tonight. I was really looking forward to seeing her tonight.”

“Oh, I’m sure you were,” You rolled your eyes, making him laugh. “Hey, at least you got to spend time with your best friend!”

“Yeah, except he had to go to the shop,” Scott smirked. Your jaw dropped as you playfully punched his arm.

“Asshole!” You laughed.

“I’m kidding! I’m kidding!” He giggled. “This has actually been really nice.“

The sound of your distinct ringtone went off, reminding you that it had been well over an hour since you’ve heard from your boyfriend. You looked down and saw his caller ID.

“Hold that thought,” You smiled before answering. “Hello?”

“Y/N. Could you come pick me up?” Stiles’ voice sounded frantic.

“Yeah. What’s wrong?” You sat up, gaining Scott’s full attention. The car fell to silence, only the sound of the faint rainfall and phone call protruded through it.

“I saw the monster,” His voice was shaky. “I have no clue how it did it but it paralyzed me somehow.”

“Oh my god. Are you okay?” You felt your heart sink.

“Yeah,Iam but..” He trailed off. Just from the way he spoke, you knew he saw the monster claim its latest victim. He sighed. “Can you, uh.. could you come pick me up?“

“We’re on the way,” You responded. Scott buckled in again as you sped back towards Tucker’s garage. It didn’t take very long to arrive seeing as you frantically sped down the streets of Beacon Hills. You were greeted with a line up of cop cars and ambulances. “What the hell..?”

Scott looked over to catch Stiles walk towards the car before taking a seat in the back of your father’s car. You both turned to him, hearing his shaky breaths. The rain had now picked up. He was soaked.

“I saw it. I had temporary paralysis too but it didn’t come anywhere near me. I think it was from skin contact to its venom,” He began, looking at his hands. He went on to explain everything he saw and experienced that night; the reptilian beast, the way it crushed Tucker, the way it just ran away after seeing him. “Deaton was right. It’s not like you. I mean, its eyes were almost, like… reptilian. But there was something about them.”

“What do you mean?” Scott asked.

“You know when you see, like, a friend in a Halloween mask, but all you can see are their eyes? And you feel like you know ‘em, but you just can’t figure out who it is?” Stiles finally looked up, careful to avoid your gaze. Your soft, caring, ever-loving gaze; it would cripple him emotionally after witnessing the horrendous death of a man. You didn’t take it to heart, you knew him well enough to realize that he was trying his hardest to push off the impending panic attack.

“Are you saying you know who it is?” Scott furrowed his brow.

“No,” Stiles shook his head, looking back down for a second. “But I think it knew me.”

———

You dropped Scott off at the school once again before driving back to your place. The second he hopped in front, you didn’t pressure him to talk. You simply took his hand in yours and asked, “Your place or mine?”

“Can we drop by my house so I can pick up some clothes? I can’t drive us to school tomorrow because they’re impounding my Jeep,” Stiles’ eyes wandered to your delicate hand in his own, rubbing at the back of it with his thumb.

“I almost forgot about that. Yeah, for sure,” You nodded, making a quick stop at his house and quickly returning to your father’s apartment. You explained enough of the night’s events to your dad. He wasn’t angry and even agreed to letting Stiles stay the night again. You warmed up leftovers and ate in a comfortable silence before going to bed.

Stiles finally opened up about the night; not just the events but how they made him feel. The task that had been impossible in the past was effortless when he had you in his arms. Being vulnerable around you was second nature now, especially when you rubbed his chest the way you were in that moment.

You fell asleep before him, and with that, so did his racing mind. His thoughts slowly came to a stop the more he talked to you, but nothing calmed him down more than when he heard the familiar sounds of your drowsy breathing. He rested easy with your arm wrapped lazily around his torso as you slept peacefully beside him.

———

“I’m so sorry about the other day. I’m trying. We’ll get through this. Uh, I know, because I love you. I love you more than-“ Stiles cut himself off at the sound of your giggles, looking away from Scott before groaning. “Oh, my God, I can’t. You and Allison just have to find a better way to communicate.”

“Come on, you guys are the only ones that we can trust!” Scott pleased before shifting his attention to you. “Is she coming to the game tonight?”

“Mhm. She said she wouldn’t miss it for the world,” You smiled. “But we really need to get that journal. I’d offer to go talk to her but I have class in a couple minutes.”

“I think Deaton meant to call it a Bestiary,” Stiles replied.

“What?” Scott asked.

“A Bestiary.”

“I think you mean bestiality,” Scott giggled.

“No, dumbass. It’s like an encyclopedia of mythical creatures,” You chuckled.

“How am I the only one who doesn’t know anything about this stuff?”

“Okay, you’re our best friend, you’re a creature of the night… It’s kind of, like, a priority of ours,” Stiles explained.

“Okay. If we can find it, it can tell us what this thing is-“ Scott began.

“And who,” You chimed in.

“…We need that book!” The boys shouted simultaneously.

“Keep me updated?” You stood up, gathering your book and binder into your arms. “I really need to get to class.”

———

“She thought it was bestiality too?!” You threw your head back in laughter as you drove Stiles to the Lacrosse field for the game. “I do not want to know what’s going on in their heads.”

“That’s exactly what I said!” He grinned. “Thanks for the ride. I gotta go warm up! I love you!”

“I love you too,” You giggled, getting out of the car. The stadium was already filling up with eager lacrosse fans.

Your eyes panned over the crowd, seeing Allison sitting with her grandfather and making a mental note to steer clear until she gave you the signal for when she got a hold of the keys. You opted to take a seat next to Melissa, hugging her as you greeted her.

“Hi, sweetheart!” She grinned, holding you tightly before scooting over and patting the seat next to her. “I was saving you a seat.”

“Thank you!” You smiled, happily plopping down next to her.

“I find it so odd that you want to sit next to me instead of your friends,” She laughed.

“We’ve been lacrosse buddies since middle school! I’m not about to give up that title just because I made new friends this year,” You shrugged. “Plus, you’re cooler than they are.”

“You mind telling Scott that?” Melissa joked, making you chuckle. “Oh! It’s starting!”

You watched as the boy nicknamed The Abomination plowed through a good percentage of the team, leaving Coach no choice but to play the kids he would otherwise never give a chance. You looked over at Allison to see her holding out three fingers as the keys dangled from her hand. The signal.

“I’ll be right back,” You excused yourself.

“Okay, sweetie,” Melissa smiled. “I’m gonna go get some popcorn.”

You both got up and walked your separate ways. You made your way to Allison, reaching for the keys, only to see Stiles’ hand beat you to it. He looked back and smirked as you jogged to catch up to him, making his way to the school.

“Hey! That was my job,” You giggled.

“Sorry, I just couldn’t stand to watch that Hulk of a man break another set of legs,” He shivered.

Jesus, that guy is OP as fuck,” You huffed. “You think he’s a werewolf?”

“No, Scott would’ve noticed by now I think,” He shook his head.

“Oh, so he’s on steroids,” You smiled at the ground as you stepped onto the sidewalk.

“Oh yeah. Man’s roided up,” He chuckled. “Man, I really thought it was him too. I don’t think this is gonna be as easy as we thought it was.”

“What? Who said this was gonna be easy?” You laughed.

“Scott,” Stiles paused as you raised your brows. “Okay, yeah. That’s on me for believing him. He’s a dumbass.”

Such a dumbass. But he’s our dumbass,” You commented, making him chuckle.

You continued to talk for a few more minutes before you heard sobbing coming from a familiar car. “Oh my god. Is that Lydia?”

“Fuck,” You breathed. “I should probably go talk to her. You good going in by yourself?”

“Yeah, it should be easy enough. Go check up on her, I got this covered,” He smiled, giving you a quick kiss before jogging into the building. You drew in a breath, still a little bitter about the way she treated you the other night. Regardless, you swallowed your pride and walked up to her car.

“Hey, Lydia,” You said softly, making her jump. “It’s just me. What’s wrong?”

“Nothing,” She wiped her tears. “It’s okay if you don’t wanna talk. I’ve been such a bitch to you lately.”

“Yeah, maybe a little,” You smiled, making her chuckle through the tears. “But you’re still my friend. Can I hop in?”

“I don’t wanna talk about it… but, uh.. I could use some company,” She said as you settled into her passenger’s seat.

“Okay,” You nodded, placing a reassuring hand on her back. Lydia cried for a few more minutes as you gently rubbed up and down her back. Once she collected herself again, she apologized for her behavior at the rink. You smiled, hearing the sincerity in her voice alone was enough to forgive her. You spent the next half an hour trying to cheer her up by talking about anything that came to mind. You even began making her laugh towards the end.

“I really appreciate you, Y/N. This year has been…” She drew in a breath before continuing. “Rough, to say the least. You and Allison were the only good things that came out of it. Thank you.”

“For what?”

“Just for being you. Thank you,” She reached forward for a hug you gladly accepted. “But I’m really tired from the crying. I think I’m gonna call it a night.”

“Okay, drive safe. Call me if you need someone to talk to,” You smiled before getting out of the car. You looked at your phone to see if Stiles had texted.

7:32 PMStiles: THIS JOURNAL IS SO HARD TO FIND FOR WHAT

7:40 PM Stiles:oh, hope she’s okay lol

7:43 PM Stiles: i’m like 90% sure it’s not in here but i’ll keep looking :/

You chuckled at his messages, looking at the building to see the principal’s office lit up. You walked towards the entrance, only the sound of your feet to keep you company. The path was darker than usual, it seemed like a few light posts had gone out recently. You felt a funny feeling arise in your chest before you noticed a second pair of footsteps behind you. They were much too heavy and calculated to belong to your boyfriend.

You turned around and held out a defensive hand, ready to use any type of magic to ward off the potential threat. You watched Isaac gasp and flinch.

“Jesus! Be careful with that thing!” He breathed. “I’m not here to hurt you.”

“That’s hard to believe,” You scoffed, refusing to put your hand down. You wanted to make your hand ooze with black smoke to intimidate him but knew you’d probably end up hurting him on accident. You hadn’t gotten around to training your powers so they were incredibly unpredictable. Seeing as he hadn’t tried anything, that option seemed a little premature. “What do you want?”

“I’d like for you to put your hand down,” He chuckled. You didn’t cave in. “Or not. That’s fine. Look, I just wanted to apologize for the other day.”

“I don’t need to hear your heartbeat to know that’s a hot load of shit, Lahey,” You rolled your eyes, putting your hand down cautiously.

“I’m not,” He began. “I really do feel bad-“

“Feel bad for trying to beat up my best friend or siding with the bad guy?”

“Uh, both?”

“I have somewhere to be,” You spoke with annoyance.

“I’m serious, you know,” He called as you turned around. “Just know my intentions are never to hurt you.. or your friends. I’m following my alpha’s lead but I draw the line with you.”

“Because of my blood?” You narrowed your eyes.

“Not exactly. Remember that night when I first turned and you did that thing with your eyes to stop me from killing Stiles?” He looked around, stepping closer as he lowered his voice. “I don’t know what type of witchy bullshit that was but I literally can’t bring myself to hurt you. And I’ve tried. But it’s like I get paralyzed. And I can’t get you out of my mind. I’m constantly thinking of you to the point that it has been getting in the way of my training. I think you made some sort of bond that night.”

“Did Derek tell you to say that?” You scoffed, making his face drop.

“What? No,” He was offended. “He’d probably kill me if he knew I was telling you this.”

“I don’t believe you,” You shrugged. He paused, narrowing his eyes with an amused smile plastered on his face.

“Your heart skipped a beat,” He leaned against the stairway’s railing.

“Look, I’m sure I left some sort of impression but a bond would require us both to feel that way. And I don’t. But even if I do believe you, what do you expect me to do about it?” You snapped. “Did my heart skip a beat that time?”

“You’re pretty when you’re mad.”

“Wanna see how pretty I look when I send you flying into the parking lot?” You smiled sarcastically, making him quickly glance at your hand to make sure you weren’t acting on your threat. You smirked, almost feeling guilty at how much satisfaction his fear gave you.

You felt the familiar sinking feeling in your stomach pull your gaze towards stands before a panicked roar on the field erupted. You felt a magnetic pull towards Scott.

“You better go check on him,” He looked over at the field. “That didn’t sound too good.”

You quickly jogged back around the stands and to the field only to be greeted by a crowd that was making its way towards a wounded player on the ground. You quickly ran around them and saw Scott sprawled out with his right heel practically touching his right elbow. You darted up next to him and Allison, sliding a bit on your knees as you beat the crowd to him.

“Oh my god, your leg!” Your heart clenched empathetically.

“Pull me up,” Scott breathed as the crowd began gathering round.

“But-“

“Y/N. Pull me up please!” He pleaded urgently. You extended your hand as he rose up from the ground before wrapping an arm around you for stability.

“Don’t move!” Coach ordered.

“Scott!” His mother called.

“It’s okay! It’s okay!” He chuckled. “I’m fine! I’m fine.”

“I could’ve sworn I literally hear bone breaking from where I sat,” Melissa breathed.

Heard it? I felt it,” Coach added.

“Guys, seriously, I’m fine.”

“We should go,” Allison walked up to her grandfather.

“Hold on,” Gerard paused as the crowd dispersed. “I wanna ask him one more thing.”

You stuck around to hear Gerard invite you both to dinner, not taking any excuses as an answer. You were about to protest one last time before Scott agreed. You shot him a glare. “We’ll be there!”

“Ah! That’s what I like to hear!” The old man grinned, walking away as he called out again. “We’ll meet you there after the game.”

“Are you fucking kidding me?!” You hissed after he was gone, taking his hand off of your shoulder. “We?!We’ll be there? No. No, no, no. I’m not going with you!”

“Y/N, please? I-“

No, Scott!” You shouted, earning a few glares from the players who walked back on the field. You rolled your eyes and guided Scott back toward the sideline as the game started up again. “I’m tired of playing along with this stupid fucking charade! You saw the way Stiles reacted last time! No way.”

“Just this once!” Scott begged. “I mean.. This will be the last time! I swear to God. I’ll tell Stiles about everything, okay? I’ll send him a text right now. He can’t get mad if this stupid fucking charade saves my life! Not to mention, there won’t be any hiding or lying! Please!”

“Scott,” You groaned.

“Please. Please. Ple-“

“OKAY FINE!” You exclaimed. “Oh my god. Are you twelve? You fucking owe me big time! Call him and explain right now. And if he’s not cool with it, you’re on your own, got it?”

“Okay! Okay! I will! Thank you!”

You smiled and flipped the bird before taking your seat next to Melissa once again. You both chatted as Scott grinned and shot you a thumbs up, running back into the last couple minutes of the game.

8:14 PMStiles:i’m gonna kill him. those cold-blooded murder documentaries you watch will make a whole ass episode dedicated to me

8:15 PMY/N: dedicated to us*

8:15 PMStiles: THIS. this is why i love you

8:16 PMStiles: btw can’t find the journal. i’m gonna try to look around the secretary’s office now. i’ll call if i need you

You smiled and turned off your phone to watch the rest of the game.

———

“Oh, good! You’re back. Dinner’s almost ready,” Mrs Argent called from the kitchen as the four of you wandered into her home.

“How was the game?”

“Why don’t you ask the star player?” Gerard smiled. The couple’s gazes shifted disapprovingly to your best friend.

“Hi,” He pursed his lips.

The dinner was eaten in awkward silence. Small chat was attempted by Gerard to no avail. You kept your eyes low, smiling from time to time as you looked around.

“Alright,” Gerard wiped his hands off with a baby blue napkin. “Why is everyone so quiet? Is it that uncomfortable that they dated?”

You almost choked on the green bean you swallowed at the way her parents looked at Scott.

“Did you ask them if they’d be uncomfortable?” Chris questioned.

“Okay, I know it’s been a few centuries since I was a teenager, but even back then, we dated and broke up all the time!” His father smiled.

“We’re fine. Besides, they’re dating now,” Allison smiled. “Right, Scott?”

It took every ounce of you to hold back an eye roll when you saw the look of utter admiration on Scott’s face when he responded; he couldn’t help but to look at Allison as if she’d hung the stars. “Yup.”

“You two are dating?” Mrs Argent questioned. You smiled and nodded. “You will never cease to amaze me with the women you manage to pull.”

“That’s exactly what my mom said too,” Scott chuckled, choosing to ignore the obvious insult.

“Oh, I see,” Gerald sighed. “Y/N’s the reason you broke up.”

“No!” You all tried to speak at the same time, pausing when you realized how quick the unanimous response was.

“No, uh..” Scott wiped his mouth before continuing. “Things just got.. complicated between me and Allison. We broke up way before we got together. I only caught feelings for Y/N when we were both nursing each other’s broken hearts from our previously failed relationships. Our families are really close so they always said it was only a matter of time.”

That was oddly convincing, you thought, impressed at the effortless fib.

“Plus, Allison broke up with me,” He finished. You choked down a laugh at the way Allison’s mouth dropped open.

“No offense, Scott,” Chris spoke up with a forced smile. “But I think maybe Allison felt the two of you were just growing apart.”

“As if the father’s opinion isn’t biased,” Gerard interjected. “How do you know they weren’t as passionate as Romeo and Juliet?”

Your lips parted at his rude comment. Even as his fake girlfriend, that fucking hurt! Why would he even say that in front of his (fake) girlfriend?

“Well, Romeo and Juliet commuted ritual suicide,” You deadpanned, earning a smile from Chris.

“Exactly. They could’ve used a little less passion,” He agreed.

“Can we please talk about something else?” Allison blushed.

“Brilliant idea,” Her mother muttered.

“Scott,” Chris instructed. “How about you help me grab dessert from the kitchen?”

You turned to him with wide eyes as he got up, knowing that couldn’t be good. The two walked out of the room and disappeared behind the door, leaving the four of you alone. You smiled up at Allison, desperately trying to change the mood. “So, uh, how’d you do on the Econ exam?”

“A, you?” She mirrored your expression.

“Same,” You giggled.

“Smart girl,” Gerard chuckled. “Victoria, did you know Y/N is well on her way to becoming the valedictorian in their grade?”

“No, I actually didn’t,” She replied. “There’s a lot of new things I’m learning about her tonight.”

“She also knows French!”

“Oh?”

“Uh, yeah,” You laughed uncomfortably at the spotlight, not quite knowing how he knew that about you. “My dad taught it to me growing up. He worked internationally in France and Canada so I also picked it up when we traveled.“

“French!” Gerard grinned. “Our family comes from France!”

“Mine too,” You smiled and decided to compliment Mrs Argent on the meal. “Mes compliments au chef. C’est magnifique.”

Merci beaucoup,” She thanked you with a smile as the men returned with the dessert. The table fell to silence once again.

“Do you mind if we’re excused?” Allison asked. “There’s actually some notes from English I need to go over with these two.”

“Mhm,” Gerard responded sweetly before the three of you got up and followed Allison up to her grandfather’s room. You all looked around quietly for the leather bound journal for a few seconds before Allison pulled back a jacked from a piece of furniture only to reveal a safe.

“There goes that plan,” She frowned.

“Wait..” You furrowed your brow. “Scott, people use stethoscopes to crack the code on those things all the time. What if you-“

“Already on it,” He grinned, he kneeled down beside the safe and pressed his ear up to it as he fumbled with the knob, opening it only seconds after.

“Do you wanna hit a few banks later?” Allison asked, making you all chuckle. Scott grabbed the leather journal, seeing only old recipes written on the pages. “Oh my god. It’s a cookbook.”

He placed it back in the safe before your phone buzzed. You grabbed it to see Stiles calling.

“Y/N, no,” Scott ordered. “Shut it off. We can’t-“

“Hey, I’m a little busy,” You answered regardless. “Can I-“

“Y/N!” His voice echoed as the sound of water splashing filled the background. “That lizard thing is here and I’m trapped with Derek at the school’s pool. I need your help! Bring Scott!” He said breathless and with urgency.

“Okay, okay, we’re on the way!” You looked at Scott before the phone call ended. “We need to go.”

“What? What about the book?” Allison asked with concern.

“We’ll figure it out later,” Scott kissed her. “Stiles needs our help.”

You all ran downstairs to bid her family a polite farewell before you hopped back in Scott’s mom’s car and took off. You arrived in a matter of minutes, running straight in.

“WAIT!” Scott ran up in front of you. “Stay behind me. I don’t want you getting hurt.”

“Okay. Go! Go!” You turned him by his shoulder before you both took off running again, whipping corners and descending from stair cases similarly to when Peter kept you all hostage in the school for a night. Scott burst through the doors to reveal two very tired men in the pool. You saw Stiles reach for the diving post in an effort to stop swimming before he and Derek sank into the water. Scott growled, shifting into his werewolf self, and pulled them out.

“Oh my god, are you alive?” You breathed out as you cupped his cheeks in your hands. He breathed heavily but nodded. “Derek, you alright?”

As you spoke you saw a figure on all four approach at an ungodly speed. You looked up in fear, holding your hands up and closing your eyes. You didn’t even think to use magic, but it seemed to come naturally when you were angry or afraid. It still controlled you. You felt the familiar black smoke surround your hands but were too afraid to open your eyes to reveal what you’d done.

“Oh my god,” Stiles muttered. “How the hell are you doing that?”

You finally opened your eyes to see the creature jump over a sort of translucent black mist surrounding the three of you, instead it went for Scott. You couldn’t tell if it was some sort of force field or if provided you al with invisibility. Maybe it was something else entirely. To be frank, you couldn’t care less. Because whatever you just did, it was working.

“I don’t know,” You shook your head, looking over in time to see Scott fly into a mirror. “But stay inside of it.”

“What do you mean? No, don’t go out there!” He shouted.

“I’m getting really tired of playing good girl and listening to everyone’s damn orders today,” You murmured as you stepped foot outside of the mist. “HEY!”

“WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!?” Scott cried as the lizard looked over at you before approaching. You held out your hands, feeling them kick you back as you sent a force flying into the creature, sending it flying with bone shattering force to the opposite wall. It quickly got back to its feet and shot you a look of utter anger before charging once again.

You felt a bigger kickback when you sent another force out of your hands, sending it flying back for a second time. It landed with a thud, grunting a little before hesitantly getting back up.

It quickly snapped out of its fear. With a look of death, it ran at you with its full speed, almost not giving you enough time to prepare. Almost. You screamed, feeling the same black mist that surrounded Stiles and Derek begin to appear on your hands. This time it was darker than ever, hiding your hands completely in its smoke. You sent as much force into it as you could. It flew back and fell into the ground. Silence followed when the creature didn’t so much as twitch.

“What the fuck, Y/N!?” Scott shouted with anger from his wall. “We aren’t fucking killers. Why’d you do that?!”

“It’s not dead!” You argued.

“It looks pretty dead to me,” Stiles grumbled as the black mist around him dispersed.

“You need to get in control of your fucking powers. Don’t let them control you! You caved into your urge to kill tonight-“

“I don’t have an urge to kill!” You argued. “I’m not like you!”

“You’re right. Because I can actually control it,” He contended. Your lips parted in disbelief.

“Guys, maybe we should just-“ Stiles began.

“I recognized that look, Y/N. I was the same way!”

“I didn’t mean to fucking kill it, Scott!” You shouted. “I just wanted to stun it so we can get the fuck out of here. We’re wasting time! So let’s go!”

“There’s a teenager in there that you might’ve just murdered and you want to leave?!” He was persistent. He wanted to have one of your infamous arguments. At times, the two of you were capable of arguments that only siblings could bounce back from. Good thing you were bonded. “Own up to your actions!”

“I DIDN’T KILL IT!” You snapped. “Look, Scott! It’s breathing. And you should be thanking me because you didn’t exactly have that fight under control.”

“Guys?” Stiles’ spoke cautiously. “The monster-“

“Yes, I did!”

“No, you didn’t!” You spoke to him in a condescending tone. “I had it under control. And for that matter, I fucking savedyou!”

“Hey! Hello?! Guys!” Your boyfriend raised his voice to no avail. “It’s g-“

“At what cost?!” Scott pointed over to where the monster laid, only to see it was gone. “Where’d it go?”

Your heart dropped at the sight. You walked back towards Scott out of habit as you both looked around. He picked up a shard of the broken mirror as a defense.

Suddenly, the monster jumped from high ground and appeared beside Scott, hissing before it walked at an eerily slow pace. Whatever it’s next move was, it was calculated. Scott held out the mirror and snarled.

The monster took a glance and tilted its head. It seemed to be entranced at the sight. You both furrowed your brows in confusion before it jumped on the wall beside you and climbed out of the room, breaking the glass ceiling on its way.

“Now who saved who?” He said smugly.

“Can we just drop it? It’s alive, alright? The argument is over,” Stiles sighed.

“The argument’s not about the fact it’s alive. It’s about how she almost killed an innocent person.”

Innocent? Oh my god!” You scoffed. “I’m so tired of talking about this!”

“Then stop talking and listen!”

“All I’ve been doing is listening to you! The fake relationship, the dinner with the Argents- Scott, I basically obey your every command! Even when I know for a fact that you’re wrong!” You paused, seeing his face fall slightly. You breathed heavily from the force exerted, both from the yelling and the magic. “You know what? Never mind. I’m done with this conversation.”

You turned on your heels and marched out of the auditorium, making your way to his car. You barely held it together as you walked out of the building, feeling you vision blur as you looked at the empty parking lot. You wiped at the stray tears on your cheeks and tried to collect yourself before the whole group walked out.

You’d stuck through thick and thin with Scott. You defended him since you were children. You were his shoulder to cry on, his rock. You helped him master his new powers and never doubted his morals or his heart. Out of all people, you’d assumed that he would be the one to understand what it feels like to be controlled by supernatural abilities and the process of learning how to control them. He was doubting your morality simply because it didn’t align with his own. He was doubting you as a person, a friend, simply because you almost killed a beast that has claimed numerous victims and would continue to do so unless it was put down.

Yet, you didn’t know how to feel; betrayed because of his lack of confidence in you, or afraid. He was normally the last person to question your motives. Could he be right? Were your thoughts, your conscious, being corrupt by the black magic?

“Hey, you okay?” Stiles’ voice interrupted your thoughts. You turned around, making his soft smile fade at the sight of your tears. “Oh, Y/N..”

He reached out for you, pulling you into an embrace. His hands gently rubbed your back as you heard your faint sniffles against the crook of his neck. “Sorry it took me so long to come out here. I had to yell at him for a couple of minutes for being such a dick to you.”

“Really?” You chuckled, making him smile.

“Yeah, my voice actually feels a little hoarse now,” He cleared his throat as you giggled and pulled away slightly to look him in the eye. “And I normally don’t really get involved in your arguments but that was so out of pocket.”

“Agreed,” You smiled as he wiped the last of your tears. “Thanks for always standing up for me.”

“Of course,” He let out a breathy chuckle. “We’re in this together now, right?”

“Yeah, but you’ve done that ever since we were kids.”

“It’s because I’ve liked you ever since we were kids,” He admitted. “Scott never stood a chance when it came to whose side I’d pick in an argument. Especially after that one time he threw away that flash drive that had our fifth grade field trip pictures on it just because his hair looked weird. You were so-”

“Flash drive..” You repeated quietly.

“Yeah, remember? You took pictures of us at Disneyland-“

“Oh my god. Stiles,” Your eyes lit up as you looked back at the school. “Gerard’s keys had a flash drive! Do you think the bestiary was on it?”

“God, you’re so fucking hot when you do that,” He grinned before you both took off into the school. You quickly grabbed the keys from the principal’s office, ran past Stiles’ locker to grab his laptop, and darted back to Scott’s car to look at the contents.

Within a matter of a couple minutes, the two of you set up a makeshift desk on the hood of his car and scrolled through the documents on the flash drive. Scott made his way back over to the two of you.

“Is this the bestiary?” He spoke up hesitantly.

“If you can call it that. Is this even a language?” Stiles huffed.

“It’s Latin,” You recognized some of the words from the Romance languages you spoke.

“How long would it take you to learn Latin?” Stiles asked you.

“Using magic? I could probably learn it in a matter of a week and translate it.”

“A week?!” Scott asked. “I don’t know if we have that long. We need to figure out what this thing is now.”

“It’s called the Kamina,” Derek approached with his pets alongside him.

“You knew the whole time?” Stiles’ tone was nothing shy of annoyed.

“No. Only when it was confused by its own reflection.”

“It doesn’t know what it is,” Scott said.

“Or who,” Derek affirmed.

“What else do you know?” Stiles questioned. You slipped your hand in his for emotional support, receiving a squeeze.

“Just stories. Rumors.”

“But it’s like us?” Scott asked.

“It’s a shape-shifter, yes. But it’s not right. It’s like a..” Derek paused to think about how to phrase his next sentence.

“An abomination,” You finished, earning all eyes on you before Derek frowned and nodded. He turned to leave before Scott called his name.

“Derek! We need to work together on this. Maybe even tell the Argents-“

“You trust them?” He hissed.

“Nobody trusts anyone. That’s the problem!” Scott snapped. That’s rich coming from you, you thought. “While we’re here arguing about who’s on what side, there’s something scarier, stronger, and faster than any of us, and it’s killing people! And we still don’t even know anything about it!”

“I know one thing,” Derek lowered his voice. “When I find it, I’m gonna kill it.”

Your eyes widened, knowing it was a promise and not a threat. You looked over at Stiles who wore a similar expression.

“We have to save that kid,” Scott turned with a huff. “We can’t let him get away with murdering it.”

You stayed quiet. To be completely truthful, you disagreed. You thought it was morally wrong to keep it alive. It not only risked the lives of countless people, but you had a feeling there was no negotiation that could be done to lure it back to normal. It was unethical to keep it alive. The last thing you wanted to see was the people in this town, the people you loved and grew up with, torn to shreds one by one.

“You don’t agree?” Scott asked you. He scoffed. “When did you become so heartless?”

“Hey, back off, man,” Stiles stepped in as your eyes darkened with anger. “We can settle this when the topic isn’t so fresh. Let’s regroup tomorrow, alright? We don’t wanna speak out of anger.”

The ride was filled with tense silence. Scott dropped you both back off at Stiles’ house before leaving to pick Melissa up from her late shift.

———

“You okay?” Stiles asked, kneeling down in front of you. “You wanna talk about it?”

You shook your head.

“Wanna take a shower?” He followed up. You nodded and he grabbed a few of his old garments before you made your way to his bathroom.

The scalding hot water seemed to be the only thing that had relaxed your tense muscles. The anger slowly washed off with the grime from the day. You got to thinking about the night’s events.

When you got angry, it was hard to distinguish which thoughts were truly yours and which ones came from the magic’s toxicity. Every part of you screamed at you, telling you were right. That thing did deserve to be put down. And you would’ve done it yourself if it meant saving those you loved. You didn’t feel as if you were talking with your emotions or with a black-misted mind. It seemed rational. But if you couldn’t tell last time, what was the difference now?

You allowed these thoughts consume you as you mindlessly washed your body before turning off the water and drying off. You tossed on your boyfriend’s clean clothes and made your way back to his room to see him on his computer.

“All yours,” You mumbled, still deep in thought as your dried your hair.

“Okay,” He nodded, looking over at you. He noticed your shoulders and overall stance ease with the shower. “I’ll be quick.”

And he was. It was only a few minutes before he wandered back in, rubbing the towel fiercely against his hair and discarding it in the corner of his room. You laid on his bed, stomach down with your head resting on your hand. You were so zoned out that you didn’t even notice him enter.

“What’s on your mind, baby?” He sat down beside you and rubbed your back. “You’re worrying me.”

“Was I wrong?” You flipped on your side to look at him. “I feel like I can’t tell if I speak and act with my mind or my magic-intoxicated subconscious anymore.”

“Honestly? I have no clue who’s right or wrong. I don’t think it’s a question of if the magic is fucking with your mind, it’s more about the morality behind the situation. I mean, personally, my morals lie with the best interest of those I love, but I don’t necessarily know if that’s a good or bad thing. I guess you’re both right in a sense,” He shrugged, placing his hand on the soft curve of your neck. “It wasn’t an uncalled-for discussion. But the way Scott went about it was all wrong.”

“That was such a pageant girl answer,” You huffed, making him chuckle.

“You’re right. What I meant to say is you’re so right! Fuck Scott. You know what? Fuck morality and ethics for that matter! Let’s just run away and never come back!” He said, making you giggle. “What do you think? Scotland? New York City? Ooh, what about Mexico?”

“I hear Mexico is pretty this time of year,” You smiled.

“México it is!” He cheered before you both burst into a fit of laughter. You sat up, wanting to shift the conversation to a more serious topic.

“So what about you? How are you doing after tonight?” You asked.

“Exhausted. Sore. Traumatized,” Stiles admitted. “I don’t think I’ve exerted that much energy since like elementary school when we played that two week long round of tag.”

“That bad?!” You laughed, recalling the sweet childhood memory.

One summer, you all decided to play a ‘never-ending game of tag’. When you weren’t it, you’d avoid the boys like the plague. When you were tagged, be it from one of them hid in your closet or invaded your soccer practice to tag you, you’d sneak into their own houses, t-ball games, or ask their parents for a ride somewhere to try to tag them. You all barely slept towards the end in fear of one of your friends tagging you in your sleep.

At one point, you and Scott decided to chase Stiles around Beacon Hills for hours, not telling him who was it. You didn’t stop until he fell and sprained his ankle. It was only one of the various injuries you’d all acquired in the midst of the two week long chaos. All of your parents scolded you and forbid you from ever playing tag for longer than a few hours a week.

“Almost. I’d argue that last day of tag was still, to date, the most exhausting experience of my life,” He spoke as he got under the blankets, patting the spot next to him so you’d join. You gladly abided, taking your usual position; your leg lazily tossed on top of his own while you rested your head on his chest.

“I’m so sorry,” You sighed. “I can’t even imagine. I wish I would’ve checked on you earlier.”

“It wasn’t your fault,” He yawned and kissed your forehead. “Don’t feel bad. It led to us figuring out what the hell that thing was. I will, however, need two to four business days to recover before we even think about having sex though.”

“Damn it. I was hoping we’d do it tonight.”

“Really?! Because I was totally kidding! I’m fine. I’m not even sore!” He sat up quickly, making you laugh. “You were kidding weren’t you? That was a mean joke. Don’t ever do that again.”

“Okay, okay, I’m sorry!” You giggled, looking up at him. “I’m actually really drained from today anyway. Let’s just sleep tonight and maybe reconsider in two to four business days?”

“Okay, as long as you aren’t holding out for me. Because I could totally perform FYI,” He yawned, making it very evident that he could not. “I was just warming up in the pool earlier.”

“Oh? So you and Derek were-“

“I knew your dirty mind would say something as soon as the words left my mouth,” Stiles interrupted. “Goodnight, asshole.”

“I love youuu,” You smiled up at him. He failed at holding back one of his own.

“I love you too,” He grumbled dramatically before reaching over to turn off the lamp on his nightstand.
