On this shitty shitty day, of all times, I finally finished connecting the pieces in why I love The Novice so much: it’s a power fantasy, (which I knew) specifically in the sense that I wish I were both as capable of Alex Dall, and as satisfied with the very concept of achievement in the abstract. I wish I could get that high, that sense of self-worth from just doing something really hard really well, but I can’t.
