People who are worried that TOH is gonna have the same ending as Amphibia: chill out.

Amphibia ending is sad but, in my opinion, incredibly good, because it makes sense, given the most important lesson and major theme of the show from minute one is that things change. And that’s normal, and that you can’t always have what you want. And even if you and the people you love are separated, the bond and memories are still intact, and no one can take that away from you even if you’re worlds apart. And being hopeful that one day you’ll find your way back to each other. It’s bittersweet but it’s hopeful at the same time.

Is The Owl House gonna have the same ending? I highly doubt it. Because The Owl House is a pretty different show with different themes, different plot and which treats the isekai thing very differently.

Let’s see, the protagonists. Anne was trapped in another world unwillingly, and from minute one, her objective was to go home. Even when she grew to love Amphibia, she always wanted to go home and maybe occasionally return to see the Plantars. But she wanted to be on Earth with her parents and friends. At the end, she has to choose, and yes, it’s sad, but it makes sense. Amphibia was always going to end with her and the girls going home. From minute one.

Luz, on the other hand… she’s a misfit girl who went into the Demon Realm willingly. She stayed there willingly. And you can tell that unlike Anne, she doesn’t really want to go back to the Human Realm, and the only reason she’d go back is for her mother. She doesn’t want to go back because she’s finally found a place where she fits in. And that’s what The Owl House is about: misfits. All the important characters are misfits in one way or another. And they find a way to fit in, with other misfits. It’s like Eda said, “Us weirdos have to stick together.” That’s the main theme of the show.

So, the Amphibia ending is sad but good because it makes sense for the show. But a similar ending in The Owl House wouldn’t really make sense, at least for me, due to how different the themes are. So I wouldn’t really worry about it.
