i love how everyone who steps foot in the riverlands goes back in time. i love how robb returns to northern independence, how arya searches for rhaegar’s rubies and sees the village hoster tully burnt and meets two of robert’s rebellion era bastards. love how catelyn comes to riverrun only to uncover 17 year old truths. how the blackfish returns only to hear about that redwyne girl again, this girl who remains a jilted bride solely within riverrun’s walls, haunting enough to drive brynden away. LOVE LOVE LOVE that brienne’s journey through the riverlands starts with seeing hyle hunt and randyll in maidenpool, hearkening to the first time we see her but it turns out that beginning was actually an ending. dick crabb and how everything about cracklaw point exists in the past. the vengeance of aerys targaryen in duskendale, dunk’s shield, the haunted elder brother in the saltpans, seeing RENLY’S GHOST at the inn at the crossroad. love jaime with every reminder that splits him in two - his sexy harrenhal reveal sixteen years too late, his fever dream, the smiling knight the mountain of my youth and arthur dayne dubbing him once, aerys twice. pretty pia and the blackfish whose eyes have been on him for years and years. the blackwood bracken feud that transcends time. love that funky lil liminal space.
