#the stairs image is not as creepy as id like it to be

upon the stairs

I recently listened again to episode 85 while walking home in the evening and it is still among my favorites. The lyrical quality of the poem it is based upon echoes on through the statement and so the episode has it all, heartbreaking, existential dread, confusion and melancholy, a dreamlike atmosphere and then some extremely charming, friendly banter between Jon and Georgie which reveals so very well, that under all his cynical standoffishness of season one and obsessed paranoia from season two, Jon actually is genuinely a sweet and funny guy.

The first image is a digital, black and white chalk-charcoal drawing on light grey background. The drawing is contained in an oval shape. It shows a hallway with a staircase. A man is standing on the lower steps of the staircase and stares up at a white shape of a human figure that appears on the steps above him. The scene is dimly lit by a lightsource coming from the front and the right, lighting up the man at the bottom of the staircase from behind and casting is shadow upon the steps. The stairs dissolve into dark shadows further up, the steps and the banister slowly twisting in to a spiral curve towards the lift side of the image, implying a shift of perspective.

The second image is a colored sketch of Jon and Georgie. Jon sits at a table, statement folder, tape recorder and a tea mug in front of him. He scratches the Admiral’s chin who made himself comfortable on Jon’s lap. Jon’s face is in profile widely smiling at Georgie who stands next to him, ready to leave for a date wearing a light coat and her purse slung over her left shoulder. She gives him a teasing look and smiles back at him. ]
