This is based off a famous children’s book, The Cat that Lived a Million Times by Yoko Sano. You will cry, like seriously don’t read this if you have to go anywhere not looking like a hot mess ok. I cried a lot and already knew what would happen, and yes the kids book is this sad as well.
We’ve all seen this photo of the two-year old baby from the Honduras who, along with her mom, was detained on June 12 by the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol after they crossed the border. What you haven’t seen (probably) is the second photo, showing mom removing the shoelaces from the baby’s shoes, as required the Border Patrol agents. Treating the baby like an adult prisoner.
Then this four-year old boy from the Honduras, who was detained along with his dad after they crossed the border. If you look carefully, you’ll see a badge has been placed on his chest and his left shoulder, with his assigned number, #47. Remind you of something? I want to believe the number is to allow the US to reunite the boy and his dad, but I don’t think so.
Some more. I have the story behind each of them, but each photo is strong enough.
Then this. Can’t we afford real blankets for these kids? I’m sure the military bases in the area have acres and acres of spare blankets we can use to keep the kids warm, instead of wrapping them in mylar.
And these are cages, not chain-link fence partitions as claimed by the trump people. Cages. The photo is real. It’s a screen grab from a video produced and released by the US Customs and Border Control.
Fears of attacks like these, fears of rape, fears of loss of economic security, fears of forced public outings and fears of arbitrary arrest are common place for LGBT people in Uganda where the witch hunts for them continue till this day. And things will only get worse as we move into the Ugandan election period - it’s no secret that dehumanizing the LGBTI community will score easy political points to the candidates.
Queer Youth Uganda (QYU) is an LGBTI Youth Organization that currently works in 13 different cities in Uganda to advocate and protect the rights of marginalized sexual and gender identity groups. One of their many objectives is to provide safe housing for those whose lives are at risk and cannot afford it themselves. So far they have relocated 56 of their members members, 15 of them have been arrested, and three are on trial.
QYU is currently raising money to pay for the resources to uphold their safe houses for the coming year. Please please donate some money if you can and spread the word about the fundraiser. This is a life and death situation for many in the Ugandan LGBTI community.
A while ago I read a fanfic supposedly naruhina where boruto treated useless and despised hinata, then said that he preferred mother sakura, besides naruto had a secret relationship with sakura, in one part of the fanfic hinata gets angry and the others treat her badly for not understanding the decisions of her “family ”.
