i know how ooc connor has been in williamson’s robin run has been talked about before, but there’s something else about it that bugs me almost as much as the “murder bros” shit. the williamson thing where he’s trying to push “hawke” as connor hawke’s hero name (did we not learn from drake?) annoys me a lot, and on more than just the level of it sounding fucking stupid. connor’s whole thing is he was raised without ollie, but where ollie doesn’t know he has a son, connor knows who his father is and idolizes him. but when ollie dies and connor becomes green arrow, it’s not just about ollie: connor is green arrow. he doesn’t conform to how ollie did things, doesn’t try to become his father. he honors his memory by carrying his mantle, but connor makes green arrow his own - and ollie respects that to the point where when he comes back to life he not only approves of connor’s time as green arrow instead of getting pissed someone was running around in his costume calling himself green arrow, but requests that connor keep calling himself that even though there would be two of them.

and this relates to the arrows’ names being incredibly family focused: two speedys, two green arrows. roy’s journey to becoming red arrow reflects this, and he even comments on it when dinah and hal give him the red arrow costume but say he doesn’t have to call himself red arrow.

i’m sure williamson is insisting on calling connor “hawke” because he thinks it would be confusing for readers for there to be two green arrows active at the same time, but he’s completely missing the fact that that was the whole point. connor and ollie coexisting as green arrow said a lot about their relationship and the meaning of arrow mantles as a whole, and it’s just really disappointing to see this important and interesting part of the character by removed.

The version of you right now is deserving of love. Not you two years ago when you had more of your shit together, or the five years later version where you’ll surely be thriving. The version of you right now. The one that might just be okay, or is really struggling, or is bored and unproductive. That version deserves love. Having trouble accepting this is fine, but actively denying it is not. Your value is intrinsic, and finding confidence in that is mandatory.

I go back and forth on whether I share the headcanon that Solomon Little is Silver’s real name but for the moment I’m feeling it because the juxtaposition of Miranda saying “God wrote [the Song of Solomon] too” and then Silver (Solomon) saying there’s no god writing his story is just making me crazy
