To the eyes of every man barred entrance to the great cabin, it calls to memory the death of David Young, who had fallen quickly and deeply ill and was whisked away to Erebus, never to return. Doubtless a few wonder if Crozier will go the same way, if this is one of those sorts of illnesses that pluck their patient from life between one breath and the next.
