LIVE

I’m posting extremely late where I live, but I gotta vent about the demo for a bit.

I’m not finished with my first route yet, I will the next day as I am exhausted. (I didn’t play the demo as soon as I downloaded it, so if my thoughts seem short, that’s why. I have like, 6 hours of total game time)

I’m doing Scarlet Blaze first like I said I would, and man… IMO this story’s pacing is too fucking fast. We expose Tomas after the third battle, which is just two weeks after we get to the monastery. And there’s no actual weeks, it just skips straight ahead to the fights.

Which, okay, I like not being shackled to monastery activity, but straight after that we expose Thales, and then Edelgard becomes Emperor, and then the timeskip happens. This all is in the manner of an hour, two hours at most.

The inner details are kind of what I expected. Ladle takes out the Slithers first (ignore the fact that the first bandit attack on the students still happened on Ladle’s orders presumably, this game doesn’t care to extrapolate on that I guess)

Idk if this is the same with other routes, but Jeritza was the Eagles’ professor for me, and I can already tell the stans are gonna eat it up as “confirmation” that the Teacher Theory is true. Even though that theory hinges on the the idea that Ladle never intended for Kostas to kill Dimitri and Claude, when both 3H and Three Hopes proved that she did.

Besides that, wow! Ladle and Hubert abusing the church’s trust and then turning around by manipulating the public through the rebuilt southern church to denounce Garreg Mach’s legitimacy. Who could’ve seen that coming. /s

Also Monica is here I guess. Apparently she’s still alive despite being kidnapped a year earlier. After exposing Tomas, her character so far is “Ladlegard Simp #2″ and likes competing with Hubert for recognition. What a stunning addition to Fodlan’s cast. /s In all seriousness, I hope in the full game she does more to impress.

For the actual game.

How mechanics at base camp are introduced is well paced at least, I never feel overwhelmed.

The gameplay itself… is kinda slow? Maybe it’s my muscle memory from FE Warriors 1, but there are times I feel I’m not getting anywhere in terms of defeating enemies as fast as I could be. I know I’m doing things right, I hit the stun guages with the right characters, I’m using combat arts and magic at when I feel is the right moment…

I don’t think it’s cuz I’m overleveled, I’m at most 2 levels under the mission requirements.

Regardless, the characters are fun. I like each of their unique traits, and I can tell you’ll be able to do some fun builds.
