I own 33 pairs of shoes, and I’m doing my best to minimize my “collection” and I’m also swearing off buying a new pair of shoes in 2020.

Today’s shoes are the smallest of the bunch: toe shoes and flats.

For about 5 years starting in 2011 I started wearing skirts to the shows my bands were playing in, mostly because I thought they were really comfortable and breathable under the lights on a hot stage. I didn’t like playing in pants because there was always some kind of sweat going on, and even more so, my cell phone in my pocket would interfere with my bass on occasion. Wearing skirts solved this problem. For a while I was just wearing Chucks to shows until one of my coworkers took me to Savers and introduced me to second hand shoes. I bought both the blue and sequin flats within a couple weeks of each other to go with a few different outfits. I don’t think I’ve worn either of these in about 2-3 years now, but they’re so small that I have no reason to ever get rid of them. I think these only cost $5 each.

The toe shoes were probably not the best option for me, but I really wanted to try them out. I liked the “barefoot” appeal that comes with the shoes, but I notice that even though the shoes are designed to be breathable, my feet sweat heavily when I wear them. Basically turns them into a portable foot odorizer and that’s not exactly the most attractive thing in the world. I wear these every so often, and I might transfer them to my parent’s house in New Hampshire and just wear them whenever I go swimming at the lake. The main reason I can’t justify ditching them is 1: They’re a weird thing to donate. 2: They were $50 each.

Shoes 7, 8, 9, and 10 of 33.

there was definitely something wrong…something odd was going on at the Ballet School… and she was determined to find out what… so she hid in the closet and waited until everyone had left for the day… then she would investigate…

–Suddenly–

one of the spandex unitards, just like those she had noticed that more and more of the students were wearing, came alive

–how can that be?–

the unitard grabbed her and before she could react it slithered up her legs and body

she tried grabbing it and pulling it off but

–to no avail–

soon she was fully covered, encased neck to toe in the tight shiny stretchy spandex…

–but that was not all–

soft stretchy thoughts invaded her mind as well…encasing her own thoughts in a cocoon of control

and finally she

Understood
