Despite all the awful things happening, there was one part that made me laugh: Mocha calling Ayato “stripper bird”.
This isn’t quite Fridge Horror, but more like Fridge Sadness: the implication that all the Mew Mews have the hidden potential for new, stronger attacks. If Shizuka had figured out how to do this, he would most likely have survived. I really hope that after his Mew Aqua resurrection he gets an upgrade. He deserves one.
I really wish we’d get official birthdays for the Ole characters. We know them for everyone in original TMM now, and it seems like Madoka Seizuki likes celebrating birthdays for the characters in her other works (including one that ended years ago). I’m mentioning this now because I’d like to know if Ryusei referring to Shizuka as “big bro” when they’re the same age is just A Ryusei Thing, or a hint as to whose birthday comes first.
I forgot to mention this last chapter because of everything else, but Natsume’s AI told her that Dark Blue needed Anzu’s survival instincts in overdrive in order to awaken. So, that’s why she told the aliens the whole “Mother of Earth” thing. That is horrifying, and this chapter shows off even more of her cruelty. Seriously, she doesn’t hesitate to kill these guys the second she realizes they’ve betrayed her.
I’ve seen some people say that they hated Latte after his yandere turn, but I personally think hitting some bumps on the road to redemption is realistic character development. It seems like he’s accepted Anzu’s relationship with Aoi now, from what I can read.
I’m glad we finally got more insight into Chai.
This chapter started sad and ended sad, but at least there were some cool fight scenes in the middle.
