6 Problems ‘Sleepy Hollow’ Desperately Needs to Fix

Sleepy Hollow, FOX’s crazy and delightful supernatural drama, just aired the show’s mid-season finale. Last season, the show was a breakout hit, juggling an amazingly talented and diverse cast with humor, action, and hilariously re-imagined historical facts.

What if the headless horseman from the original Sleepy Hollow myth was really one of the horsemen of the apocalypse? What if George Washington had a bible that was actually a map to prevent the end of the world? What if you woke up hundreds of years out of time, and found yourself learning about skinny jeans and motorcycles?

The show was wacky and whimsical, and it quickly amassed a huge fan following of “sleepyheads” who loved the way the show balanced all of these outlandish ingredients.
Flash-forward to season two, and the ingredients which once made Sleepy Hollow so addictive are now out of proportion. Shows like Sleepy Hollow walk an incredibly difficult tightrope, making it likely that at some point they’ll stumble. And after watching the second season’s first 11 hours, it feels like the creative team has run into some problems.
Getting rid of Moloch might go a long way towards righting the Sleepy Hollow ship, opening up new story avenues for the show to explore. Even with the many bumps in the road this season, the show still remains mostly enjoyable. This is due in large part to a stellar cast lead by Nicole Beharie and Tom Mison. At the heart of the show is the relationship between witnesses Ichabod and Abbie, and thankfully the chemistry between Beharie and Mison is as strong and enjoyable as ever.
Hopefully FOX's Sleepy Hollow will return to finish out the show’s 18 episode second season better than ever. Still, here are some issues from the first half of the season the show is probably going to need to deal with:
