tommy ludlow: novelisation highlights

• uses the word “really” all the time as an exclamation
• is compared looks-wise to charles manson
• someone calls him laura’s “trained hippy”
• he asked lulu to go for a drink with him once and she turned him down
• hebought the flower he tries to give to lulu !!
• drinks pepsi cola
• scared off a creep who hassled lulu on a photo shoot
• cried because the police don’t trust him and he thought laura didn’t either
• wears levi jeans
• does not mention belle vue or the tombs when he talks to neville
• (knows that laura and neville are together)
• watches basketball (supports NY Knicks)
• weirdly obsessed with solitaire
• plays solitaire on the front seat of the car when he’s waiting around
• admits he doesn’t have a lot of friends
• he giggles !! a lot
• does not stand up straight (ever)
• considers “going into computers” for a career
• his apartment is kind of gross but he keeps it tidy
• the cops think he “has a thing” for knives
• (in all fairness he carries a knife around everywhere and reaches for it when he’s stressed)

truly gutted that lulu rejects tommy in the novelisation. in the movie i got the vibe she thought he was sweet but in the novel she explicitly turns him down

in an earlier draft of eyes of laura mars, there’s a scene where lulu and michelle were being harassed by some guys on the street and tommy pulls out his switchblade to scare them off. be still my beating heart.
