Nowadays, I see many viewers saying that they are watching Six Flying Dragons 육룡이 나르샤 (2015 SBS). it’s rare to see a 5-year-old Sageuk drama find new viewers this lately. Is it because of My country : The New Age 나의 나라 (2019 JTBC drama) which shares the same time period? Or, are more and more people binge watching extremely long 50 episode Korean historical dramas to avoid boredom during their Covid-19 quarantine? LOL

Because of the consecutive failures of the last year’s Korean historical dramas (except for Netflix zombie Sageuk Kingdom), the production of Sageuk dramas is going to be rare this year. Therefore, it might be a good idea for Sageuk fans to look back on the old masterpieces again.

Anyways, I am now busy watching Korean Webtoons and Webnovels instead of TV drama these days. Solo leveling 나혼자만 레벨업, Tower of God 신의 탑, Death is the only ending for Villainess 악역의 엔딩은 죽음뿐, The emperor and the female knight 황제와 여기사, etc. They are really fun. I think the next big K-culture waves may come from this webtoons and webnovels. Far more exciting and creative than TV drama and films.
