the sword and the shield ⚔️
Because of the reveal of Hop’s anime debut, I was thinking back to Hop’s Twilight Wings episode. The episode establishes strong parallels between Hop and his Wooloo, as they both look up to Leon and Charizard’s power. One of Wooloo’s pokedex entries says this:
“It’s curly fleece is such an effective cushion that this pokemon could fall off a cliff and stand right back up at the bottom, unharmed”.
It’s prolly a daft comparison to make, but the concept of wooloo being able to survive a fall arguably alludes to Hop’s story arc. Whenever Hop is defeated by the player, or put down by others, he bounces back with even more determination. Even when Hop loses in the semi-finals, he pushes on to find a different path for himself. He doesn’t need to be ‘strong’ in the same way that Leon is. Like Wooloo will always survive a cliff fall, Hop will always overcome adversity- because that’s what makes himpowerful.
One more gala doodle - Hau hanging out with his new best friends!
