For our second week, we’re treated to a new perspective of our boys’ eighth year at Hogwarts. Will their Animagus studies be able to help them change more than just their physical appearances?
Harry’s back at Hogwarts for an eighth year. N.E.W.T.-level classes, Slytherins, and Animagus studies should be enough to keep him busy, but when did Harry ever do things the easy way? It all started when Harry decided to talk to that random, stone gnome perched in the Transfiguration classroom, and it all went uphill from here.
This autumn, we’ll post one fic per week for seven weeks, each one inspired by one of Hogwarts’ seven core subjects — Defence Against the Dark Arts,Transfiguration,Astronomy,Potions,History of Magic,Herbology, and Charms. Each story will be a stand-alone work, but together they’ll make up the anthology we call Seven Shades of Magic.
“I’m sure she’ll come back out, if I just wait long enough,” Miss Paulina said, barely glancing over her shoulder at the Aurors who had come searching. “She said she knew a spell to turn into a mermaid. I told her I thought it would only work in saltwater, but she insisted… She hates Apparating, and she said she’d rather swim to St Louis than ride a broom… And perhaps she was right, for down she went, and the river isn’t very deep here, so I suppose she might be halfway to Missouri by now… But there’s no need for you gentlemen to be concerned. I’m sorry anyone summoned you. Emily can be such a lot of trouble. I did tell her to leave a note. But she’ll be back. If I wait. I’m sure. Wrong? Why would you think anything had gone wrong?”
