after watching kaithiandvikramback-to-back just fuck the mcu, give me the lokesh kanagaraj cinematic universe
vikramis both intricately layered and makes logical leaps large enough that your belief strains to be suspended over them. it runs by with pure adrenaline and kamal hassan’s mesmerising eyes. there are some predictable and disappointing story beats like the fridging-the-romantic-interest and men using personal trauma to visit unbelievable violence on others lifted straight out of the gautam vasudev menon school of filmmaking; vijay sethupathi plays a rough imitation of the villain he played in master. there are some truly pulsating moments though, and agent tina deserves her own fucking movie. kaithi was more fun because the story was much simpler and the stakes so crystal clear, but however messy vikram’s story might have been, the threads connecting them are strong and the set up for karthi to re-enter is just electrifying.
don’t think too much about it! but also, like. don’t get confused.
