Ok so when I see people headcanon/make aus of Harry Potter characters as trans I see the girls dorm staircases brought up a lot. And my first thought when I saw it used was “damn dude, imagine getting outed by a fvcking staircase.” I’ve seen a few where its mentioned that an ftm character had this big moment of the stairs not letting them up, just casually as part of their backstory. And I’ve always thought it was really messed up for how its glossed over.

And at first I thought of the impacts of a conservative society on kids who were trying to suppress their true selves having a magic spell tell them that they’re not normal despite them trying so hard to fit into what they’re supposed to be.

And then I thought no. Magical society is stupid, but can they really be that stupid? You’re telling me they have definitive proof of the validity of trans identities and they’re gonna be transphobic? No.

From now on in the canon of my brain wizard world is like mk kid, here’s some potions and a new room. Dont worry we’ve been doing this since the founding theres no side effects to the potions, we’ll chop off/add on the extra leg to that chromosome no problem. Not even the purebloods have an issue with it. Because we arent that dumb.
