Thoughts on the “Marry me!” Melanie ending…

I’m posting this under a read more because it’s a long ramble. I normally don’t go so heavy into this sort of thing, because when you get down to it, we’re discussing theme park rides. I try not to be very judgmental. It is all meant to be entertainment, and these are just works of fiction. But… hoo boy… This whole thing has pissed me off, and if you want to know why, keep reading.

TW for mentions of abuse.

Once again, Myrr, you took the words right out of my mouth. It feels so much like they’ve taken away any intent in her original character to intentionally go against the Phantom and do one final, selfless act by turning her into someone whose goal in life is to grow up and get married. To be fair, I feel like that’s a dream a lot of little girls have, but it’s usually one of several concurrent ones (maybe they want to be a chef, or an astronaut, or learn to ride a horse).

And yes, I know I’m delving maybe a little too deeply into the psychology of a theme park ride character, so I digress.

Showing some love for the Disney/Pixar dads.

I genuinely can’t believe you’ve completely forgot Aurora’s dad.

He waited for his daughter for 16 years and was pretty damn close to having his best friend just whisk them away with marriage, this man deserves a medal 16 years of stress my friend.

Also!
