space opera au because i’ve been thinking about captain neji being tasked with escorting a galactic peace envoy in which ino was its newest and shiniest recruit. they didn’t really talk much at first because neji was busy being a control freak and ino was busy charming everyone and everything. until they were attacked by space pirates and crash-landed on a backwater planet. they had to wait for rescue without murdering each other, since neji was still a control freak and he soon learnt that ino hated control freaks. he also learnt that she wasn’t actually human and the space pirates had been targeting her in the first place. something about collecting a super rare species of aliens that could communicate telepathically and selling them in the black market like trophies. also the planet was super cold at night so there were a lot of cuddling and heat-sharing and neji being paranoid about ino reading his minds during their nightly cuddles because it’s not his fault that she’s pretty and warm and kinda attractive when she’s not running her mouth off.

ino just pressed into him closer and pretended not to notice the frantic, adorable space captain slowly losing his marbles.
