“The “Epic love story of Sam and Dean” (as characterized by the show’s executive story editor Sera Gamble [Borsellino]) is in fact frequently refrenced within the show itself. Such instances include moments where Sam and Dean are mistaken for a gay male couple (see for instance “Bugs” 1.8;“Something Wicked,“1.18;and “Playthings,“2.11). These instances often provoke a mildly homophobic panic–usually in Dean (arguably the more masculine of the brothers). Homoeroticism is also developed as a consequence of the narrative prevention of both brothers’ heterosexual love lives (Dean’s relationships with women are prepetually doomed, and Sam’s female partners are frequently murdered). Perhaps most obviously the siblings’ excessively dependent love for one another is also commically misinterpreted as bordering on the homoerotic. Tossenberger summarizes: They don’t have anyone but eachother (and their father) to love, and since their fathers death, they love none but eachother….While this love is not necessarily romantic, our culture codes romantic love as similarly excessive, so the show makes it very easy to read Sam and Dean’s excessive love as romantic.(2.2)”

Welcome to Every Time We Touch, an event that celebrates the hundreds of possible ways Sam and Dean Winchester could get together! In this event, we’ll try to create a first-time Wincest fic or artwork for as many episodes of Supernatural as we can. Episode sign-ups open today (January 24, 2021, Dean’s birthday), and the deadline for your works is May 2 (Sam’s birthday).
This event works like a prompt fest and takes place on AO3. The “prompts” are the 327 episodes of Supernatural. You sign up by claiming one or several prompts (episodes), which you commit to filling by claiming them. Leave a comment on the episode you want on this spreadsheet; make sure you include your AO3 username so we can verify that the fill matches the sign-up. Completed works should be posted in the AO3 collection for this event. You are welcome to link and share elsewhere as well, of course. The episode you created for should be identified in the tags or notes of your work.
Fic should be a minimum of 500 words, but beyond that it can be as long as you like. Art should be at minimum a finished sketch and should have a visible connection to the episode you chose.
FAQ: What kind of first time? Your work can be about a first kiss, first date, or first time having sex—whatever works for you, as long as it’s some version of Sam and Dean getting together romantically and/or sexually.
Are any topics banned? Nope—just make sure to tag and warn appropriately.
How closely should the work connect to the episode? Can it be AU? The work should take place during or after the episode. Some canon divergence is perfectly fine within those boundaries.
What about episodes where Sam and Dean are separated? You can still sign up for those! Just be creative. For example, you could write about Sam or Dean fantasizing about the other for the first time.
Are threesomes allowed? Sure, as long as the focus is on Sam and Dean getting together.
Can I submit something that I already created or posted prior to this event? No, all works should be created specifically for this event.
Can I claim multiple episodes? Can a single episode receive multiple works? You can select up to five episodes to create for. A single episode can receive up to two works.
