シェイクスピア戯曲『冬物語』

解説はこちら https://www.fanbox.cc/@hdsdt/posts/2157500

I was hoping May was going to be the month where I finally caught up one some long-neglected commissions and got my working life under control again. Unfortunately, I ended up burning out and not getting very much of anything done. My brain basically feels like it was just mauled by a bear.

Oh, and speaking of “mauled by a bear”…

And let’s take the Wayback Machine back to the original:

Wasn’t going to be able to improve on the bear, so basically just copied it.

thinking about antigonus telling leontes “you are abused and by some putter-on / that will be damn’d for’t” like. it’s obviously not original to point out the parallels between othello and the winter’s tale but it’s such an interesting difference that even though the idea is brought up, there is no iago to blame in the winter’s tale, nothing at fault but the workings of leontes’ mind.

if the horror of othello is knowing that you could be manipulated into believing something that you would otherwise never believe, the horror of the winter’s tale is knowing that you could come to believe a terrible lie all on your own and still not be able to free yourself from it until it’s too late.

Also i finished The Winter’s Tale yesterday so here’s a meme:

2.3 is the best scene in The Winter’s Tale because it’s just Leontes in a screaming rage trying to get someone to remove Paulina from the throneroom for literally a hundred lines while she stands there hurling insults at him and nobody will do it for fear of getting absolutely wrecked by this middle-aged woman holding a baby

love this line though. paulina voice too bad your son dropped dead he could have hooked up with flor
